I checked the track out today in game and it does have a 400m home straight - so plenty of time for a closer to wind up.
Having said that it does appear you don't want to be worse than mid-field.
Like reality, the barrier draw can make or break a winning chance.

I have had a horse win from stall 11 and many placing in trials in double figure stall numbers
it is tough to win out there but can be done in my opinion its the same as real life the Arc
draw is one of the most eagerly anticipated draws of the year because its a huge factor but trainers
still run horses even if drawn out in the car park

Just ran a trial using 30 of my best horses and low and behold the horse I entered for this exhibition race, Free Why, won... from the 16 post! She was well behind early and looked like was going to end up about 5 lengths short late but had an amazing late kick and closed home very strongly.

I've made my entry. Dafiya - A 4yo filly who won 17 of 19 career races in game. 15 of those Grade 1's. I trialled many, many times over good, good/firm and good/soft and she was always right there to win or place very close. She has serious late kick and a bit of speed to not lose touch with the field. If she can get a good draw and hug the rail she may win this. A solid 4th or 5th choice behind the power stable entries.

Just entered a horse for this race so fingers crossed.

Miss Swan, 3yo from one of my first saves that went on to win my first Triple Crown. She likes dirt and 1m3f, but will drop down quite well. I trialled all my best 1m1f horses and one dominated the field, then raced him 1on1 with Miss Swan and she blew him away three races in a row - decided which one I'd enter straight away!

Not sure she'll do much against a strong field like this, but quietly hopeful not to finish last. Good luck to all!

Group 1 Wins: Lennoxwood 6, Rising Sun 4, Charmer 1, Little Book 5, Miss Swan 22 (in another game, this entry is her as an unraced 3yo).

I've sent the entry to you mark. First time enter the league, not expecting anything big. As long as my horse doesn't finish last, i'll be pretty wrapped up!

My horse probably will ran midfield, barrier wouldn't a problem however the distance might be a challenge for her. last time i tested on the distance was back when shes 3YO, ran 2nd on florida derby beaten by half length. So best of luck everyone!

Remember there's a race for all types of horses in the league even if horses finish near the back of the trail, the first race I ever won was a 0-80 h'cap in the league. I was still well chuffed when I won it.

Sorry - couldn't get screenshot to work. Anyway Noverre Downe won every 2yo Group 1 race in Australia and won most of his 3yo Group 1 races.
As a 4yo he was tried overseas without winning but he did win the Australian Cup and AJC QE II Stakes.
This is my entrant for Sha Tin - Noverre Downe - He pretty much blitzed his 2 and 3yo seasons and his two placing were my fault and not the horse lol
If he finishes mid field I think that will be a top result but I think against some of the guns in the field he'd probably finish near the tail.
Oh Noverre Downe is a closer.
