Firstly you will need to know your horses running style which you can find here.

As you can see the horse has won the race using Even Pace as its main race tactic, Just for Example i have written down the other 4 jockey feedbacks from Brandy Lakes previous races.

(J.P.Spencer) Even pace, This horse is a machine!
(A.Nicholls) Even Pace, Excellent, What a horse!
(T.Eaves) Even Pace, Which suited, Horse loved ground, Struggled for pace, Promising run.
(D O Neill) Even Pace, Excellent ! What a horse !

As you can see this clearly indicates that Brandy Lake needs to run at an Even Pace.

Always make sure your horse is exported when its condition bar is full so that it can run to its best potential. ( VERY IMPORTANT )

Green bar next to the red in the horse stats display should be right to the top! Example below.

When its time for you to export , click the E indicated on horses menu.

On the screen now showing, you will be able to select the horses instructions ( race tactics ). Selecting race tactics when exporting will give your horse the chance to run to its best when running in the league, not selecting tactics can mean your horse running in different styles other then you expect.

If you hit the drop down menu on the tactics page you can see the main tactics that are available to select to go with your horse.

Once main tactics have been set..... Even pace for Brandy Lake.

Hover hand icon over EXPORT THIS HORSE now and left click.
Once you have clicked, you will see a file path display on your computer showing you that the horse has been exported and where you can find the exported files on your computer.

You will notice that after selecting your main Tactic there are sub tactics you can also select to go with your horse ie Challenge Earlier, Challenge Later etc These tactics can be selected as you see fit but there is not anywhere in the game that will tell you if they were used when your horse had a run.

You will need to repeat these steps each season a horse gets older, you will need a file for each year it ages 2,3,4,5.

The reasons for this are:

a. If you find a 3yr old horse with great ability, there is a good possibility that you may want to enter the same horse in the league the following season at the age of four but to do this you must have the horses exported file for that year!

b.If your just starting out you will need to have a mixture of horses to enter over different ages so you can enter most of the races available.

Yes Westy, they are not compulsory but ive not put instructions on some of my horses before only to see them then set the pace when they should be held up when it came to league races. Think this may have been in SO3 thou, may be better in SO4 with the horses running properly without the instructions but now i have got into the habit of always putting the instructions in.

Thanks for the STICKY mate, please let me know if ive missed anything that you all think should be added, just trying to make life a little easier for the Newbies.

So when your horse is exported it still stays in the game? And could I enter the same horse as a3 year old two years running or does it have to be a year older each time?

Yes it stays in the game.

If you enter a horse at say 3yo then want to enter the same horse next league season you must enter it at 4yo.
