I can now see why my pure breed jump horses get out sped when they are hold up horses against flat hold up horses, they seem to struggle but my front running jump horses do ok.

Paul, when I was trying to breed my flat horses with my jump horses and got that kind of potential as a 2yo, I found that the potential peaked at 3yo, stayed the same as a 4yo, but started to decline as a 5yo and since most NH races are for 5yo Up I looked for good cruise and extra speed from the flat horses but to have the potential from my jump horses who peaked their potential as 5yo.

They look like flat horses too me. I found a flat horse with those jumps bars it was dreadful over hurdles and fences, it’s offspring were also dreadful, it was eventually binned.

I'd never add another flat horse to my jumps breeding , I've learnt from my mistakes . :D :D

You could try this and I don't know how accurate it is. Import 6 flat horses into a new flat game and trial them. Check the head lad messages after the trial.

I did two trials with this group both at 11 furlongs. One on dirt and one on turf. Only one horse got the "Better over fences" comment in each trial. They were different horses. So who knows what to make of the accuracy of this. Think I'll start a jumps game and bring these two in and see what happens.

You never know got to be possible to get a jumper that looks like that.

Personally I am more leaning towards never trialling again.

Delighted with trials plenty of encouragement especially over the big fences

Pawn Stars (Granddaughter of Mack The Knife) won the hurdle trials

In Wonderland (nicknamed perfect bars was a close second in chase trials

I know im on the right track now - I really honestly was thinking this would be a
complete waste of time that the newbies and perfect bars would stink.

I can maybe do some crossover breeding now and that could bring further improvement
nice to see progress as with the flat side have not see that in a long time.

That's the great thing with the jumps breeding and that is there's many ways to breed unlike the flat , most/everyone is pumping their jumps team with great flat bar horses where im going backward 2 years and getting out my old horses because I think they can add to my less than stellar hurdlers.

Likewise, I have abandoned adding flat to my jumps stable, mostly breeding from last seasons crop, have a batch ready, just have no desire to trial right now.

Sire Derby Winner Dam Oaks Winner

as you can see the stats bars dont set the world on fire

I stand by my claim earlier in the season that American breeding
has ruined my milers   no disresepct intended it just has
the 1m4 horses are from UK game.

Hoping to bring in a son or daughter of the 2 in the window

Perhaps not in your stables, that’s better looking than any flat horse I can breed :) it’s all relative.

And back to the game.

Retirements:

Took me ages to work that lot out, as after only 4 breeding seasons to prep for the NH, with 3 more now done I could change half the team.

NH Out

2m Chase - Sword of the King - Never quite lived up to expectations and have now fallen away in the trail pecking order.
2.4 Novice Chase - Like Dusting Crops - Again never really got going and has also fallen off the trial lists, too high to handicap from here.
4m Chase - Eights the National - Too young for the national and higher rated than my other 6yo national outcast, only reason it is him, could be back at 7yo.
2m Novice Hurdle - Its Show Time - Another who is off the trial sheets and has done little to like so far.
2.4m Hurdle - Eight The Stag - Not been a bad horse all in, I just have one I really wanted to bring in to replace him, lower in the order than some of my team and now out of handicap zone.

Easier on the flat, with like for like swaps mostly.

Flat Out

2YO 6f Six Sensation - Lightly raced and falled away from the trial top 5.
3YO 1.2m Shoulder of Orion - Been found out and not seen the trial for he showed pre league now, one trial wonder.
3YO 1.4m Jackson the Bad Dogie - Being taken out to bring in a 10f 2yo, seems to be the worse of my 1.4m 3YO's.
3YO 2m Crack the Whip - Looks like I have a new line on my 2m 3yo's out as I seem to have improved significantly, least on one trial.
4YO 1m Breaks the Rules - Going as I have a horse that looks outstanding in his category, maybe a one trial wonder, but have to give her a spin.

Meet the team to follow tomorrow now it is setted.
