Re: Horses for export
Really is insane how good mack the knife is!!! Started off trailing my flat casts offs for the jumps and got some decent results 2m hurdling against him. Then tried a few chasing and nothing could get within 10 lengths of him!!! And everytime the jock would stand in the saddle so probably could have won by 20! Thought i'd try him on the flat to see if he could get close to a few i've got and when he got within 3lengths of my best miller i almost cried on fast ground at ascot...

Re: Horses for export
Plenty of jump wins available that the top trainers cannot get into. Winning a low grade handicap is still a buzz.

That horse dominated the 2m league division, I think he was the best by 5L.

Re: Horses for export
Would like to say I have him beat this year, but sadly as things look now I am only going to be marginally improved on last season. Only real leap forward is at 2m flat and 3m jump.

Re: Horses for export
Best horse i ever bred or trained he dominated my trials which is very unusual as all the horses are usually identically talented but he crushed the trials he was just a freak and the only one i have ever had a complete one off so dont loose heart i remember some of the best trainers shared horses to trail and i found it a great challenge to try and get near i still never beat that dam horse of Steves the epsom freak i forget the name ha ha i should remember i spent 2 years trying to get near her but never beat her
Keep plugging away

The more pertinent question is do you have him beat Paul?

Re: Horses for export
On the advice of Jim I regularly start up a new game to see what I get to start with and then delete it and repeat the process again if nothing is any good (which is what happens 99% of the time). I basically think of it as going to a five horse auction while I am having a coffee break ! On the rare occasions I get a good one I speed through the season and transfer it out into my main game.
What I have been looking for mostly is CB and eventually I got a couple that were up in the 80% bracket although their other stats were pretty useless.
My best find though was a 4yo 10f horse with almost full potential and close to full BQ. Its other stats were fairly average but reasonable enough. I powered quickly through a season winning half a dozen races including the eclipse, champion stakes and breeders cup and then transferred it into my main game at the end of the season and packed it straight off to stud. Hopefully it will gel with my full pot and speed mares and come up with something good but something tells me it isn't going to be as straightforward as that !
A quick question to the geniuses (is that a word) if you don't mind. I have been running a US game alongside my main game just to see if I can mix a few new bloodlines into the breeding program. What I have ended up with is a load of horses in the US game with good bars but also very high jumping bars, even though there is no jumping in US. Question is should I just trial these horses over hurdles/fences in the CK or do I need to transfer them into my main game and campaign them properly for them to gain jumping experience. In a nutshell I suppose I am asking will CK trialling be enough and save me time as the clock is ticking and time is of the essence.

Re: Horses for export
No trial them as they are mate and then if they are any good in trials you can then bring them into a jumps game and they may improve 10% I trail all my flat horses over jumps from flat games and then with the best 6 at each distance i bring into a jumps game then export them and then go on to breed them in jumps game until i have 16 to 20 to trial and you will see the improvement then I do everything one distance at a time i dont know how people manage to concentrate on more than one at a time PS this does not mean im one of the geniuses tho

Re: Horses for export
Because it is not concentrating, it is just randomly ploughing through and doing a load of mass trials, I just keep chucking them out to the export bin until I have about 1000 or so and do one mass all age all distance flat and jump trial to see what's what. The science, what little there is comes when pairing and working out what goes into the barn for each breed trial cycle, typically 5 seasons over three games.
