Paul your horses are tearing it up this season . Great work. I know you put in the work...

...but do you really need to put your undefeated last out Dubai Group 1 winner in the Group 3 Qatar Dahilia Stakes this week? Getting Group money is hard to come by for a lot of trainers. I beg you to throw us donkey trainers a bone and find a more respectable spot. Thanks.

I have removed her from the race

She would have been carrying top weight G1 winner in a G3 would have had a big weight penalty
and in that g1 and only just held on to win. I target Group races there are loads of races
i cant run in each week.

Going by your theory I and the other top trainers should only be allowed to run in Group Ones I dont think that
entirely fair but there you go

Thanks Paul. I understand the weight penalty. Your horses along with a few other trainers are just leagues better than the rest of the trainers. The penalty would've been negligible against the field that is gathered for the Group 3 Qatar Dahilia Stakes.

When I won my Group 3 last season (I think it might have been this race) with a low rated horse I felt it would be honorable of me not to enter her in a handicap in her next race.

I called out Ghost last season for a similar race entry choice. A multiple Group 1 winner in his last four or five starts who was entered in a listed race. Which it won.

It just sticks in my craw when I see highly accomplished horses from the elite trainers raiding lesser races that a lot of trainers would be over the moon to win.

Once again thank you for honoring my request.

Should there be rating limits on Listed races?

Personally I don't have a problem with Paul dropping his last start G1 winner into a G3 - either the weight will sort it out or it will be too good.

I am not sure I like the notion of asking people to pull horses. My flat team which has well exceeded expectations so far, face a week now with a lot of races I am rated out of running. Personally if I see a group race I think I can steal then I'll enter for it. There is competition for wins at the top of the pile just as there is at the bottom. Just my opinion.

This is possible but it really up to the trainer if he wants to raid listed races as he may want to win the trainers championship but again can limit horses entering listed races by max rating of say 110.

Can't agree with this, if Paul wants to run his G1 beast in a G3 he should be able too, shouldn't he ????

Sorry state if we start requesting trainers to not run horses because they are good, we have to accept that winning any form of group race is a tough ask and plenty of us would like to win one, but accept the fact that a G3 will have G1 horses in it due to distances available etc & Paul should not be penalised this way for breeding monsters.

There is plenty of handicaps available that the elites have no chance of entering.

Marty Cairns has a lto winner of a 0-90 running again in a 0-90 is it not the same difference the weight will tell or not should I ask him to drop it so that I stand a better chance ???

I hate the fact that the elites own the game and have been an advocate of trying to level the playing field for some time, but it is what it is, as they say and requesting trainers to drop horses from races imo should not happen...

"Make any G1 winners return their horses a year older the next season" & if they haven't got it then they are unable to enter that particular G1 the following year. so if "wingbat" wins the oaks and the trainer does not have him in the stable at 4, then no oaks 3yo entry for that trainer, it would stop clean sweeps all round and trainers would really need to put thought into entering G1's through out the season. I am not sure if this is practical and I am sure there is plenty of thoughts on this, as no doubt we will hear

So if you had a week 1 Maiden winner (Many times a Group level race) and then that horse wins a Group 1 race in week 2 making it undefeated going into week 3 you'd next enter it in a sub par Group 3 just to accumulate wins for what I am guessing is the dual code comp? That strikes me as greedy.

I just want honor and integrity to be part of the league. That means to me not raiding cheap group races with overly qualified horses.

None of you get this?

I didn't say he couldn't. He can say the hell with my request and do it anyway. I feel compelled to speak up when I see these beast group 1 winning horses raiding group 3's and listed races.

I agree, but this has been going on for the entire time and you have been around long enough to see it..

Sirus, don't take offense but would you of said something if you did not have a horse entered in that particular race ?

It's not greed i could not care less about the DCC Championship thats a bit of added fun always has been

Its the amount of time you put into breeding these horses why on earth would you not want to see them
as many times as you can for each horse in my team there are probably thousands at each distance
that were bred who did not make it each horse is like a chosen one to me. each one is special to me.
and I can only speak for me. Any how I have always tried to do best by the league.

If it was all about mopping up winners i certainly would keep everything I do to my self share or disclose nothing
Im just not made that way bought up to share.

Anyhow its done and it sits well with me I have no issue with it TBH it was a 50/50 call to run her in the first place.

This issue has only come up twice with me. Last season I took umbrage with a Ghost beast in a listed race and made it known. This was after the result was official.

I have two options for my horse that are enticing - this group 3 or the listed race for fillies (race 2 I think). I thought long and hard about where to send her. Did some quick trialling and settled firmly on the Group race because of the weak field ...only to see a maiden/group 1 winning undefeated horse entered on the last day of entries. My horse being in the race made it somewhat personal but trust me I am looking out for all trainers.

Why on earth for the good of the league wouldn't you give the obvious weaker trainers some piece of the pie? Which you (paul) have done and I love it. Making this league enjoyable and competitive for all.
