My thoughts on each NH Trainer. Leon van Rensburg Legendary South African trainer who is currently the leading trainer on stakes. Leon is a master breeder when you see the amount of time he puts into his breeding operation compared to others well the results speak for themselves he will be a leading contender at Cheltenham. Paul Rhodes Irish raider who has an army of horses coming over for the festival. His NH team is not as powerful as his flat team but his horses are said to be Cheltenham specialists and the yard has bounced back into form of late will be a contender. John Morgan Masterful Welsh horse whisperer who has been at the top now for several seasons a trainer known for his patients with horses John manages his horses better than anyone I know he does not throw his horses into races (Like Me) it's meticulous planning he fits races to his horses not the horse to the race the horse always comes first. Has a small squad of 16 making the trip from Wales but you can bet your bottom dollar at least half of them will win a worthy favorite to be Champ Trainer at Chelts on wins & stakes Joshua Sutherland A Trainer who is making great strides this season the Englishman has 26 wins to his name already and I know Josh likes nothing better than to bloody the noses of the big boys his horses must be respected he has several ante post favorites amongst his strong team even though the trainer has stressed the going will be far from ideal write off his horses at your peril you have been warned. David Robertson For as long as I can remember the Scotsman has been up near the top of the table especially in National Hunt but this is by far his best season (that I can remember) and with a whopping 35 winners already to his name it would be foolish to think anything other than David will be a leading contender at Cheltenham and is well in the Hunt for the overall Trainers championship. Jim Murray No doubts Jim would have been a massive contender at Cheltenham my thoughts are with him hope to see you back next season buddy always greatly respect you. Grayham Clutterbuck Legendary veteran Welshman who always boxes above his weight he is hugely respected amongst those of us who have been here for a long time. The Welsh wizard has 13 wins to his name you can bet he will add several festival winners to that list. Darren Thompson Another leading English trainer who has made great strides over the past few seasons Darren is having an exceptional season in both codes both his squads are equally strong and there is no doubt he will be adding to his 16 National Hunt wins this week. Darren will end the season with his best ever tally. Martyn Cairns The Geordie Giant has made big strides this season in both codes has a strong team for Cheltenham he has been climbing the ladder over the past few seasons and is close to already having his best ever season he will leave the Festival with winners. James Shea Another Englishman who has made huge strides this term especially on the flat he is now a leading trainer and already has 25 flat wins compared to his 10 winners over the sticks that would lead you to think his NH squad is not as strong but he is about to have his greatest ever season. certainly one to watch this week. Colin Clarke Colin sprung on the scene 3 seasons ago and is well on course to beat his best ever tally he has 7 winners to his name this term in the NHC and i'm sure he is expecting a big week ahead. Jared Tutt The American is Undoubtedly the rookie of the season over the sticks he has made a great start to his league career. So far Jared has 3 NH winners to his name and id say he will be absolutely delighted if he can bag his first ever festival winner. Thunderspark Legendary Canadian Trainer who has been at the top for ever ha ha. I learned a great deal from this gentleman who graciously a few years back gave me some of his time to teach me how to put a league team together for which i thank him. Thunderspark has not been a regular this term but did make a comeback a few weeks back time will tell if he will have runners this week if his horses make the journey from Canada watch out. James Follis James has been a top trainer for some seasons now the Englishman seems to be concentrating on the national hunt side of things this term where he has 9 winners to his name 13 is his best ever number so he is well on course to crush that and he is bound to add a winner or 2 this week. Moliets Surfer Our good friend from Deutchland who made his debut last season and ended his rookie season with 19 winners to his name it was an exceptional debut season. Looking to build on that this season and he is on course to beat that tally currently with 11 winners over both codes 8 behind his record best. Moliets Surfer Has 6 national hunt wins this term could we see a German festival winner I think we could best of luck. Martin Leedham World famous commentator turned trainer after spending last season doing the comms for us he got the bug and once that happens it game over. Martin has had a great start and is on course to end the season Rookie of the year on the flat Carl his biggest challenger his NH team has 3 wins to its name I'm sure the wordsmith will be over the moon to bag a festival winner. Stu Grey Flamboyant Spanish trainer who burst on the scene several years ago had an incredible Rookie season on the flat in Season 1. Stu has found it tough to build on such an eyecatching debut but has always boxed above his weight and in fact on the National Hunt side has already gone past his best ever tally of 4 winners he is currently on 6. always respected another who i'm sure will be delighted to reach the festival winners enclosure. Daniel French The Englishman's 4th season in the league and so far he is having a decent season over the sticks with 4 winners to his name his record of 9 which came in season 4 so is not far off course to reaching that tally again. Derek Hinton Hollywood Hinton an absolute legend and a genius Grand National Trainer Del has been round forever his best season came in season 5 where he bagged 11 National Hunt winners this term he stands on 6. Del is always a dark horse so write him off at your peril. Carl Arrogante The Norwegian's Rookie season and in a battle with Martin to be Rookie of the season on the flat (Apologies if you were registered with a previous username) Had a stella start to his flat career mopping up 10 winners so far on the NH side of things has found it more of a struggle but has that vital 1st win to his name and no doubts will be looking for another at the festival Kevin Meenaghan Kevcon has been around for along time now had a stella couple of seasons with a whopping 29 National Hunt Winners during season 2 & 3 and due to time restraints can no longer put in the time he once did. This term Kev stands on 3 winners over the sticks he has said himself that his team are not good enough but I would personally love to see Kev bag another festival winner. Darren Howells Darren has been around since season 1 and has always finished seasons with respectable tallies in double figures over several seasons. This term Darren's NH squad has one win to their name and I'm sure Darren has hopes to add to that tally this week. Doug Warren Legendary Australian commentator who made his debut 3 seasons back. Doug has made progress with his flat team who have 5 wins to their names but Doug is still waiting for his first ever jumps winner what better place than Cheltenham to break his duck. Ben Bonnici The Englishman is another who is waiting to break his duck over the sticks this season this is his 3rd season in the league Ben is on course to have his best season to date. Alex Cherrie This is the Scotsman's Rookie season and already has reached the winner enclosure twice however both wins came on the flat but his national hunt team have only had 23 starts they have reached the money several times though and i'm sure Alex will be looking for some festival prizemoney too. Sirius Chill Leading United States Trainer who is known more for his success on the flat. Sirius Chill has been around since season 1 and his results speak for themselves usually always hits double figure wins. His national hunt squad have not had many runs to date and he is looking for his first winner over the sticks this term. Tom P. This is Tom's second season in the league 2 wins this season both on the flat looking for his first ever national hunt winner and as I said before what better placed to break your maiden tag. Charlie Farthing No longer taking part this term but he will be back and my student will be back with a bang thoughts to you buddy you will be sadly missed at the festival. Forgive me if i missed anyone out the very best of luck to you all this week. |
