Post Re: WEEK 13 Flat Big Race Changes At A Glance
Maybe next season we drop the handicaps a little more on one or two of these to give the lower rated guys a last week big money chance...... otherwise the last 2 weeks of the season are far too geared for the better trainers and does not give much interest to the rest ....

I expect this to be shot down in flames and of course I'm moaning !!!!

We do really have to stop trying to get every big race around the world into 13 weeks.....

Race 15 -- The Galaxy -- £475000 -- Randwick -- 5f -- 0-110
Race 22 -- Coolmore Lightning Stakes -- £370000 -- Flemington -- 5f -- 0-110

Both Races are run over the same Distance I will look into dropping Race 22 down to a 0- 85 Race any Objections?

Race 22 is now 0-85 if I get Objections then I will change it back to 110.

The Caulfield Cup is a 12f Group 1 handicap!
The Doncaster is a G1 Hcp!
The Galaxy is a G1 5.5f Hcp!
The Lightning Stakes is a G1!
The Newmarket is a G1 Hcp!
There are 2 TJ Smith - one is a G1 Sprint over 6f and the TJ Smith Stakes over 8f for 2yos at set weights is a G1!
The Metropolitan Hcp is run over 12f.
The Sydney Cup is run over 16f.

The Lightning Stakes is the highest rated sprint race in the world and should be shown the respect it deserves! *2015

How about we run the Champion Stakes as a 0-85 14f race? or the Prince of Wales as a mile race 0-110? or the Queen Elizabeth II over 9f as a G3?

This is the last season that I will tolerate the league disrespecting Australian horse racing!

Both Doug and Stu have good points here.

Can you imagine the moaning I would be doing if we altered UK races too much. I can totally understand Doug's feelings here. However, I can also see that having two 0-110 races over the same distance on the same day is annoying for lower rated horses and it would be better if they had different qualifying criteria, or there was only ione of them.

Stu's point about cramming too much in is extremely valid also and I think we put far too many International races in anyway. I think it is good that we try to accommodate races from the countries of the players but if we are going to do it it needs to be balanced better. For instance there seemed to be an awful lot of fillies/mares only races at the Breeders Cup last week. I think we need to be more selective about the Group races we try to include and when we schedule them. We can be flexible about the calendar to a certain degree and I think there is room for improvement in the schedules.

I have a couple of ideas about how we can achieve this and will put them in a separate post in a day or two when I have more time. Today I am off to see Toots & The Maytals so will have my other hat on later !

By the way please don't see this as criticism of what is already in place, but more like potential fine tuning. Comtinous improvement is the key.

The League is online to a global audience and participants - we either mirror this or we just make this a GB. Ire and Europe League.

Top 100 G1 races around the world as released January 24 2017
These races do slide up and down each year but if a guide is needed then this is it.

"Eleven countries comprise this year's list, representing the foremost racing events throughout the world across 35 different racecourses. Australia and the United States of America lead all countries with 23 total races a piece, followed by Great Britain (19), Japan (12), Hong Kong (11), France (7), United Arab Emirates (4), Ireland (3), Canada (1), Germany (1), and South Africa (1). Because of a six-way tie for the 99th spot on the list of Top 100 G1 races, the 2016 edition consists of 105 races"

Personally i like the changes Doug has suggested, would make some of my entries seem more promising; but did we not get here as last year all the G1 handicaps were badly received?

I Came up with the G1 handicaps to give every trainer a chance to win a G1 race
they started 4 or 5 seasons back.

it's a no win situation for Gray I do think making big changes should be done between
seasons .

I can see everyone's point of view imagine making the July Cup a 0 to 85 handicap one
things for sure it aint going to be easy to sort this out

We have a problem Houston I can see points all over the place last season all the Races was GIH and every race was won by Group Horses so it was decided to lower some to 0-110 this as now started another discussion and I suppose I can see Doug's Point we should run the races at the level they are graded.

So I will look into disbanding some of the races in Week 13 and the ones left run at the right Grade and Distance I will look at what minor races ( Handicaps ) can replace the ones cut we cant have last week of racing full of Grade 1 and G1Handicaps so I will look at the Aussie Program and South African Programme for some decent low grade races as Mark is looking into having more foreign Countries Like South Africa in SO7.

I think everything that site/company does is a joke, the top horses/jockeys/ rangings are not worth the paper its written on. A bit like the timeform ratings.
