Wow what a great experience this was, Thank you for helping me join and enter.

Was very happy to Place 3rd with Master Of Swords in the 6f 2yo Race.

Bit disappointing with the other 3 runners but hey its all good its part of learning and knowing what to upload for the coming season.

Awesome Strike has been my best horse in my save, and was very strong in the CK.. I think i might have to upload her for the 3yo races instead.

But hey i had a great time watching the races and you all have some amazing horses to compete against.

Thanks again and look forward to doing this more in weeks to come.

Post Re: SO7 SEASON 2 Trials Day 1 9PM UK
Firstly thanks to Gray for the running of these trail races and to Martin for some awesome comms as always. Very much appreciated gents.

Very interesting trails with lot's of positives to take away from and some eye catching performances. My flat team as i thought is much better than last season and it will continue to get better, looking at my jumpers I know the areas I'm lacking quality in.

Most of these horses running today are still in my game racing or have just been enter to the breeding barn. Given that the league is 2 months away I've time to advance my lines even more.

Race 1
Completely the wrong horse i sent to Gray and didn't really check before i sent the email. That got me off to a great start  Should have been Dis Continued and not Continued Ride which is a 1m1f 2yo. Funnily enough the one i should have entered is a real classy 2yo. Oh well will have to wait for Trail day 2 if we get a similar distance.

Race 2
Crafty Customer - Very pleased with this result and it shows I've moved on from last seasons 2mH, could be even better as a 7yo. He's just come into the breeding barn and expecting some nice offspring from him. Not sure his father Universal Rule will be back next season even though he's still good as an 8yo. I've another mare who beats him at home so I'm excited to have some strong 2mH for next season and my novices will be equally as good I hope.

Race 3
Sequel Eclipse - This was a strange run race to see my filly taking up the running which she doesn't do in any of my trails at home. Only thing i can think of was the pace wasn't great at all. She's an absolute freak of a 2yo at home and not sure i'll get a better one for the start of season 2. Right now she's still racing in my game at 4 so cannot wait to get some pairings with her. Her mother is Fable Master my favorite flat horse last season.

Race 4
Undisclosed Talk - Still a lot of work to do with my 3m chasers. I'm getting so many mixed results and the trailing of this distance is a nightmare. I've time to hopefully find a few and aim for that elusive GOLD CUP . What I may do is branch off and spend a few weeks solely on this distance. But then again, I just need to be patient I'm sure some will come around.

Race 5
Arthurz Pass - Was kind of expecting better to be honest. This distance of 1m6+ is work in progress and hopefully i'll be thereabouts come season 2. Not been a distance I've really had the time to focus on, but it will be over the coming weeks.

Race 6
Intiale Legacy - Nice 4th place finish, few mistakes late on and jockey holding him up to long. Have quite a few 3mH which takes it in turns to win in my trails. This tells me to stick with the 8yo. Happy with my 3mH team at home and will have some promising novices next season.

Race 7
Snurge Council - My best sprinter at home and he won it very well, he has that rare finishing kick for a sprinter you need. I've also another older mare at 6 who can beat him on soft ground. He's just had his first 2yo come to the racecourse. If they have any of his finishing kick I'll be very happy to see what they are like in my trails. Cannot wait to see what he produces. Really as become one of my favorite horses.

Race 8
Dawn Arisen - Very pleasing finish and he stays 1m4f very well too. Think I've better at home and he's a machine as a 5yo so will see what happens over the coming weeks. Got a 3yo filly who's very good and loves Newmarket. Could have some live classic contenders for next season.

Race 9
Poetic Baroness - One area in my trails i'm not happy with. This was a good sign i'm on the right path, will be tough to beat Leon's older horses around this distance from last seasons showing. I do have a new 3yo who as just smashed all my current 1m4f horses and on average is 2L better than what I've had previously.

Race 10
Cheekz Gold - Little on the short side for her today. 2m5f is her trip and maybe a little further. Comes alive around Cheltenham. Not a fan of this course at all. Be nice to have some trails over jumps at the likes of Cheltenham, Aintree, Punchestown or Auteuil. Will show what we all really have in regards to festival horses.

Race 11
Merovingian - So happy to see this mare get her head in front. This is probably my strongest division over jumps, not sure she's even in my top 5 at home but i just love the name and had some much fun in the game racing her. Loves Sandown and Cheltenham. Will probably need dryer ground Good or G/S. But looking at this soft is fine.

Race 12
Shameful Junkie - Changed this horse at the last minute for mainly some experimenting reasons. Needs further that 2m3f which was raced at today. This distance throws up so many mixed results for me, but on this evidence it's not looking to bad at all. I've much better at home and is one of those distances i'm seeing improvements all the time.

Post Re: SO7 SEASON 2 Trials Day 1 9PM UK
I know where I am with a lot of mine so thought I would experiment to try have a more balanced team.

The results were good in some cases not so good in others but trials were great indicator for me

Race 1
Outcry 4th - Last season I uploaded 2yos that could run over multiple distances and thought I would see if this would work out again. Clearly it does as my best 8f horse ran really well over 6f. Will definitely continue this policy and keep a low number of 2yos

Race 2
Great Debate 2nd - A result of a breeding operation experiment. I had lost my way over 2 miles so I made a concerted effort to breed horses with Unendliche Geschichte on both sides of the lines. This was one of the first, but I have a number of others coming through so looks like I have resurrected my 2 mile lines which had stagnated

Race 3
New Values 3rd - Horse is 70% potential. I wanted to see if it would matter. Clearly not. Best over 10f and he got a bit outpaced towards the end of the race. Pleasing run. However is jumps bred so won't be in my 2yo team

Race 4
Coast to Coast unplaced - Strong travelling 3m5 horse. Was hoping he would cope with the drop in trip. He does as a 6yo but clearly not as a 7yo. Failed experiement. Will need to upload some 3 mile specialist chasers

Race 5
One More Time 2nd - Flemington specialist. 4 time winner of Melbourne cup in game and current track record holder plus my best 2 mile horse. Also an incredible sire of staying chasers. Was hoping he could do a job for me over 2m4 but clearly I will need a specialist 2m4 horse to challenge Paul's and John's. As it stands will be in my team for 2 mile races.

Race 6
Black Magic Woman 1st - Not my best but a strong traveller who challenges on the bridle which I thought would suit the league. Clearly it does. In barn at present and is looking like been one of those wonder mares Hemz taklks about so may advance my hurdlers a bit

Race 7
Guineverre 2nd - No match for the winner but until very recently my best. However this late maturers offspring are starting to mature and they seem best at 6 and above and I have a few now beating her. Long way to go to bridge the gap with the winner though

Race 8
Tuff Enuff unplaced - Very erratic in ck and game and had an off day. Nevertheless is very capable. Hopefully I can breed some consistancy into his line. Have some ultra consistant mares which he is now covering. Much better than my guineas placed horse from last season but only on a going day

Race 9
Land of Marvels 1st - Amazing run, probably helped by the leaders taking each other on. A 14f horse but I did well with Moral Disorder last season and she has a similar profile. Will run well over 12f on good or worse ground with a strong pace. Gives me nice options.

Race 10
Insane in the Brain unplaced - I don't have many average jumpers but thought I would try him. But when the pressure was on his jumping went to pieces. Didn't help distance was too short. Won't be uploading any horses in my chase team with average jumping after this performance even though distance was way too short as he can get 3 miles

Race 11
Enlighten Me 5th - 2 mile chases have been a real struggle for me but she is ideal for breeding as I can cover her with good 2m5 chasers to hopefully get a proper 2 mile chaser. Weakend late but way closer than anything from last season. I have a few more coming through so may have some decent prospects come league time.

Race 12
My Kind of Night 3rd - 3 mile hurdler probabaly needs a stiffer test to get 2m4 but ran well enough. Not close to my league team so a nice gauge for the future

Post Re: SO7 SEASON 2 Trials Day 1 9PM UK
Thanks from me as well to Gray and Martin for running the trials, looking forward to mucking in with some comms again soon too - makes such a difference to the races.

I couldn’t have expected better from my runners and am being totally honest when I say I was not expecting anything at all. To have three 4th place finishes from 7 runners was amazing and I thought for a second I was going to be the winner of race 10.

Quick summary.

6f 2yo - Kournikova Caprice 6th

Both of my 2yo runners flew at the end which is their style and the quality of the other trainers horses clearly help set a good early pace. She isn’t my best 2yo and I think by the time the league comes around I could have some relatively decent types

1m 2yo - Johnny Cash 4th

So upset he isn’t as good at 3 because he is my standout juvenile. Came with a really strong run to finish 4th and will work on getting some mid race pace into this line. He is from a game bred stallion with my best 10f mare so definitely know the right game bred horse can make a big difference

1m 3yo - Rodeo Drive 7th

My best flat horse so could be disappointed but again she finished well and got no kind of run 2f out so i’m actually really happy with how she ran!

2m H and 2m4f H - Iron Odyssey and Suka Emerald both ran like I expected all my horses too, way off the standard. I can do much better than these so not too disheartened.

2m C - Achille Filly 4th

Very happy with her, stayed on well into 4th and can make sure I get some real progress to have some nice types for the league

2m4f C - Starstruck 4th

Well I finally saw her lose a race after flawless 180 rated jumps career and pretty much undefeated in my CK at this distance and 2m too. But what a performance, so happy with her - thought she was the winner 2 fences out.

Just had a 4yo stallion beat her over 2miles in CK so already know i’m going to have better than her for the league

Overall, great to be back, nothing beats entering a league race and i’ll hope I can pick up some handicaps and maybe the odd listed race if possible.

My money is on Craig to win this year, his horses look exceptional and it would be boring for me to pick Leon. What a competition it will be and I was glad to see so many other trainers picking up races to.

Shout out to Paul for Mr Yeats as well, looks a proper stayer that. And to all the new trainers, keep at it - we’ll catch up soon enough ☺️

Post Re: SO7 SEASON 2 Trials Day 1 9PM UK
Useful exercise for me, the flat horses were the best I have right now and as expected were a long way off the pace. Like a few others though on the jumps these were the also rans and those who might take up the minor places in a team, I doubt any of them will still be around when the league starts and very few of them are still in breeding, certainly not the stallions.

Race 1 - 6fur 2YO -FLAT

Coffee And Biscuits – 7th

Knew he was worse than what I offered up for the last league season and so this is about in line with expectations. Work to be done with my Flat horses.

Race 3 - 1Mile 2yo -FLAT

Zulu Trooper – 7th

As above really, my horses are generally not maturing until they are 3yo’s so the 2yo crop are really poor right now.

Race 5 - 2Mile 4F 4UP -FLAT

Mallee Bull – 5th

Not bad from one of the few areas where my flat game does seem to be improving, have better in the tank and see scope for more improvement.

Race 7 - 6Fur 4UP -FLAT

Doughnuts For Frank – 7th

Another who marks the end for my Australian flat game, least for anything 1.4m down.

Race 8 - 1Mile 3YO-FLAT

The Hot Gates – 9th

I had hoped for better, this really just supports my view of what my flat game produces. Hopefully my new US stable will deliver something better.

Race 9 - 1Mile 4F 4UP- FLAT

Belladona – 4th

Fairly typical run from her, getting gobbled up in the closing stages. She will be in the team whatever happens just for old times sake.

Race 2 - 2Mile Hurdle

Hard Times Ahead – 4th

Fair showing from probably the best NH horse I put into these trials, he is a way behind the pick of the litter and gives me a good indication of where the rest are. Still an area that needs work, I have hope for my newly created Irish stable.

Race 4 - 3Mile Chase

Test Of Faith – 3rd

Pleasing enough result from this old boy, highly unlikely to make the team, though I do not think my alternatives are much better, there is one for whom this performance breeds confidence.

Race 6 - 3Mile Hurdle

The White Witch – 2nd

Again a pleasing enough run that marks where my actual top tier are right now, least against these fields.

Race 10 - 2Mile 4F Chase

Mean Machine – 1st

She would just scrape into the team today, I expects she will be long gone by the time it all kicks off, now pretty sure I have some real beasts over this distance and I am still making progress.

Race 11 - 2Mile Chase

The Monster – 8th

Only real disappointment of the day, did not jump well, and though I do have several who have her number now I had expected she would still be up to snuff. Seems that’s not the case at all, have been wound in over 2m chase I think.

Race 12 - 2Mile 4F Hurdle

Rosey – 1st

Very happy with this, and like the Mean Machine above she is a long way from my best, there are at six others who beat her regularly and though she would make the team today I doubt she will still be in contention when the league starts.

Many thanks to Gray and Martin for getting these turned around so quickly, has helped me get a little bit of my mojo back for the game ;)

A few experiments from me, an mostly told me what I needed. Sprinters Still likely to be my best horses an milers my worst. I'm excited for my 1m2, 1m4 an stayers though

Race 1 - 6f 2yo - Flat - Beijing Respect - Ran a blinder for 2nd considering he's a 5f horse at 2. There's a very strong chance at the minute he makes my league team at 3 or 4 over 6f. Showed a very good turn of foot to go clear 2 out, an just nabbed on the line.

Race 5 - 2m4f 4yo UP Falt - Kaiping East - A staying on 3rd, not too bad as I haven't played my stayers game since the start of the season just gone, should be vastly improved on this come league time

Race 7 - 6f 4yo UP Flat - Ningbo Networks - Very much in the ilk of his father this one, flew to get very close in the final furlong. Not my best 6f horse by any stretch, just wanted to see how the hold ups faired against anything new. I'd expect my uploads to be better at getting there quicker.

Race 8 - 1m 3yo flat - Shenzhen Stardust - Weird run. Only one of mine not placed. I don't like my milers so wasn't surprised, but she usually stays on late in my trials, this time she flew clear 2 out, an collapsed in a heap. None the wiser on my milers from that

Race 9- 1m4 4yo UP Flat - Milwaukee Peppito Another staying on 3rd. Not doing too bad with my middle distance horses, think I should have a couple decent who are better than him to upload come league time, so promising.

Wow i had 3 chasers and they all finished , that's a record

It was nice to see all 3 run well and I thought Montana Belle was decent but it was good to see Brownhall ( he's was a big question) run well and now I know he can enter my breeding barn. :D :D
