I have noticed that top trainer Jason's stable is full of geldings, I know that gelding a colt help's it settle in it races if pacifiers fail but does gelding a colt that doesn't necessarily need gelding improve them?

This question is mainly for Jason with all the gelding in your stable how do you manage to have good stallions at your stud? any advice would be great mate.

In most cases, No. I would do this as a last resort to try and get some improvement. From my experience, less than 1% have shown improvement.

Jay's bloodline will be different.

Hi mate,

When we used SO2 the majority of people were of the opinion that Geldings were 1l better. I have never really tested this in SO3 but with them all being gelded they are unlikely to get unsettled before a race.

I geld all mine and although not as successful as Jason, it makes my colts not get unsettled before the start and thus usually helping them run to their true level.

What you can do is save your game, geld your horse, export it, then ctrl-alt-delete to end the game without saving, reload your game and your horse will still be available for breeding so you won’t mess up your bloodlines. Some might consider this cheating though; this is what I used to do in SO2.

Its what everyone who gelds does.

Gelding in SO2 definitely gave an improvement, sometimes minor sometimes major. I had one horse that was very good but after gelding it gained several lengths and was a monster. In SO3 I haven’t tested it in the CK but I have sold two horses that weren’t any good and have had both beat my best horses after the new trainers had gelded them, so I would say yes it can make an improvement in SO3.

Hi Jay,

I’m very well mate, I hope you are too.

I was going to come back but I wanted to keep it quite so as not to give you any forewarning. :D I wanted to sneak in under the radar at the last minute! Unfortunately I’ve had three hard drive failures and like a plonker I didn’t back up my games. I’ve started again but I’m only on season seven and it has taken me as many weeks to get that far, just been so busy, although early signs show extremely encouraging blood lines already. I may come back next season but it depends on if I can get quite a number of more seasons under my belt before then, which is doubtful at the moment. I might wait for SO4 and get ESA back as well. I wonder if we’ll be eligible for banded and restricted races. :D :D :D

I would like to see Mr Fuller come back as well.

Congrats on winning last season by the way, well done mate.

Mike

Excellent. That would be brilliant to have you and the fiddling ESA back

There are doubts whether there will be another season of SO3 in the SOPL. I think we will but I have been told we may not. It would good to have you both back and Fuller.

As much as I would have loved to of won. I didnt lol. I finished 2nd in all 3 associations.
