Just not sure how long it's going to take to upload the schedules. Once I'm able to get started I should have a much better idea. Thanks for the offer of help Ryan, if it is a big job that can be easily shared out I'd be well up for spreading the load.

From that I'm guessing TOM will be ready in 18 days roughly and then there will be 2 weeks to upload? Sounds good.

with 25 races weekly and some weeks with 28 races

gonna be tough to have big fields this season with a max of 8 runs apiece

i think we should be looking at 30 horses or even 35

to have a decent entry in all races??

or there maybe a few voided races this season coming or very small fields

thats my take on things stable-wise

newbies i hope you have read the way to run a stable in the league

as it will be tough for you guys

Paul

There will be a thread to explain the rules, I will also be speaking to dave about whether some of those rules can be hardcoded into TOM to make it easier. Thanks for the feedback about field sizes Paul, I am happy to listen to everyone's opinion on that so we get the balance right for competitive races.

Season will start don't worry about that. I just want to make sure the big changes are implemented properly so we don't have to stop and start trying to fix them.

It should be ready to go in 18 days, I may extend this to get the maximum number of participants. Given the upload window will only be 2 weeks long I think people will need at least 2 weeks heads up of the exact start date as well.

On the number of horses issue, yes it would be great to have a representative in every single race however this isnt necessarily fair. For instance, if the stable size was bigger last year Scatters would have won practically every race in the first instance. Having to pick and choose your runners makes it fairer. On the other side of the coin we want races to have a lot of runners as, lets face it, it's more fun.

Currently I am thinking of keeping it at 25 for week 1 then increasing it to 30 in week 2 if there is demand (i.e most people have used their full allotment). Fair?

Why not just go 27\28 from the start then? Everyone will know exactly what they are playing with and what distances they will want to represent in. Only my opinion Rich, If you go for the 27/28 route for safety cant see how that it will effect anything in future by the difference of a couple of horses either way.

With the rule of........ X amount of runs for a horse in a season. It will stop all 27/28 running every week anyways.

8/9 max runs outta 12 weeks ?

See what everyone thinks im sure they will post there opinions and make the final choice then, to be honest im quite happy with whatever is decided im sure most will be.

I've seen a few people uploading horses Rich.

Can we start to upload them yet or should we wait a few weeks?

Im gonna wait as long as possible, if i find better horses in the mean time gonna be a pain for Rich to have to delete the ones already uploaded so i can upload the better ones. Lets not create more work then we need to, ill wait for the alls clear before starting to upload.

I take it that it is ok for others to be uploading at the moment?

Interesting list Thunderspark, so I compiled my own. Note that I will not be contesting any handicap races and this is for a stable size of 26. If the official stable size became 25 I would have to remove 3yo 14f filly – 3 races. At the moment I can find no room for 3yo 10f filly even if the stable size were to increase to say 28 or 29 as I don’t want to sacrifice giving up slots for 4yo+ Roya 2 races, and 4yo+ Eurythmic 3 races.

Rich, perhaps an independent stable size for 4yo+ horses should be considered? Just a thought.

2yo – 5f filly – 6 races
2yo – 5f colt – 2 races
2yo – 6f filly – 4 races
2yo – 6f colt – 7 races
2yo – 7f filly – 6 races
2yo – 7f colt – Will not contest
2yo – 8f colt – 5 races
2yo – 8f colt – 3 races
2yo – 9f filly – will not contest
2yo – 9f colt – will not contest
2yo – 10f filly – will not contest
2yo – 10f colt – will not contest

3yo – 5f filly – will not contest
3yo – 5f colt – 4 races
3yo – 6f filly – will not contest
3yo – 6f colt – 6 races
3yo – 7f filly – 8 races
3yo – 7f colt – will not contest
3yo – 8f filly – 6 races
3yo – 8f colt – 7 races
3yo – 9f filly – 6 races
3yo – 9f colt – will not contest
3yo – 10f filly – will not contest
3yo – 10f colt – 7 races
3yo – 12f filly – 7 races
3yo – 12f colt – 8 races
3yo – 14f filly – 3 races
3yo – 14f colt – 6 races
3yo – 16f filly – will not contest
3yo – 16f colt – 8 races

4yo+ – 5f – will not contest
4yo+ – 6f – 2 races
4yo+ – 8f – 3 races
4yo+ – 10f – 6 races
4yo+ – 12f – 5 races
4yo+ – 14f – 3 races
4yo+ – 16f – will not contest

Nice one Scatters. We almost have the same thing. I was planning to add alternates just to fill up my stable to get to 25/26 but there is just not enough races available.

Two weeks of maidens then handicaps for week 3 so theres not much room there. For me increasing the stable size to 30 or so is pointless since I can't find any races for them.

Especially the 3yo and 4yo 6f races. I might do the same as you and don't bother uploading 1 3yo filly and 1 3yo colt. And combine it.

Roya will have it tough with just 2 races for the year. At least my 4yo can run 2 extra races as a maiden

Steve's schedule is an excellent one. Maybe just needs a few tweaks here and there. But very impressed with the amount of handicap races. Like you said, maybe needs to accomodate 1 or 2 more 4yo+ 6f & 8f races at group level. For 5f there is really one race so having that versatile 4yo+ 6f horse is key here.

I'm pretty much set on going with 30.

5 extra horses is not a biggy and given the number of races limit I think it would be good to have options.

Good one Rich, I think you'll find most trainers will be happy with 30.
