Steve can we confirm some hcap rules mate, is every horse going to get a penalty for running in a listed or group race? Even if they are last a 2lb rise Listed, Group 2 or 3 3lb and group 1 5lb, will something like this be in place?

The way I work with listed and group races is as follows:

I rate the winner appropriately depending on style of victory, class, and opposition I will then work down - rating the horses behind the winner.

For example a group two winner will probably get a rating of around 115.

So:

01 115
02 112
03 110
04 108
05 106
06 103
07 100
08 98
09 95
10 93
11 92
12 90
13 88
14 86
15 84
16 81

In the example above lets say a horse rated 76 finishes 13th. That horse will go up by 12lb to 88.

Also if your horse is rated say 109 and finishes 13th it will go down maybe two or three pounds to 107 or 106, because it has run to 109 before.

Rule of thumb is this: Be very careful placing horses in listed or group races. Its handicap rating will almost certainly suffer if in reality it is only a handicapper. Consequently the player will find it very difficult to compete in handicaps. Decide after the maiden races whether to go the handicap route or listed/group route.

I would advise any horses finishing unplaced in a maiden to go the handicap route.

Handicap winners will go up a minimum of seven pounds and a maximum of fifteen pounds. Depending on the style of victory.

Note:

Handicap ratings can go up very quickly but will come down very slowly.

Any other questions from anyone fire away.

Do we know who's doing the odds for the NH this season?

Sure Del said he would do some. Not seen him for awhile though.

Can l just ask about the NH schedule, are paul's Moore's million races all supposed to be Maidns and hcap's only? Just asking as you need to qualify for the Moore's Millions Final and week 2 one of them is a listed race, wont this have an effect on hcap ratings and make it little unfair? May be wrong tho

Historic link help would be good, I will get the list asap and put them on here.

Taking part in a Listed race will not immediately see something going up 5lbs in the weights for instance. In fact, I think it will be useful to guage correct ratings as everything will be racing off level weights.

At the moment the betting seems to be messed up. Trying to get it fixed.

Post subject:  Rich - The Doncaster Handicap & Melbourne Cup

Rich,

Just noticed that

The Doncaster (AUS) - Week 8 Race 6 is not a handicap. Do you want me to change it to a G1Hcp to reflect real life??

Melbourne Cup (AUS) - Week 12 Race 24 is not a handicap. Do you want me to change it to a G1Hcp to reflect real life??

That would be great John, weights wise it will still be the same but it will be recorded differently on TOM.

Will get back to you about the races too.

Don't worry too much about the maidens but the major races would be good to fix. I've done the Breeders Cup and Meydan festival
