Re: When should the league start?
If one person is not willing to take on board any ideas or suggestions from other trainers then that person should not be making any decisions to do with the league. Progress can always be achieved but only if a community works as a team.
The schedule needed work and the rules looked at. Surely this should happen every season? When people said things about the new schedule Rich didn't just dismiss their ideas or thoughts.
It would be good to let the community decide which route they'd like to take with the schedule and the rules.

Re: When should the league start?
Paul if you can post the schedule Dave has got. We can go from there. The less changes to that schedule the quicker the league can start.

we will need someone to design the schedule that the majority decide on I have to say PJ, for the long term then I completely agree with you. Schedules, distances and rules need looking at. But the league has been delayed for so long now that is it not better it gets underway sooner rather than partaking in many more months of discussions? Often they get nowhere. I think the distance +/- furlong rules are very important, but Steve didn't agree. But his ideas meant that the league would be underway sooner, rather than having to sit down and write a new rule book. I would vote to get it going, then take the summer to discuss rules and come up with a set of rules and regulations and a schedule that can be easily understood and that the general consensus agree with.

Re: When should the league start?
Two weeks ago we were waiting for Dave to get TOM done and we were going to go with an agreed schedule that everyone had seen and had agreed +/- rules.
Steve came and insisted on his way or the highway. Well he's picked the highway, so what has changed from two weeks ago that we need to revisit the schedule and rules?
Surely the best way forward is to run a season that we all want to see? Changes can be made going forwards IMO after the 1st season is run. FWIW I think a stable of 20 would prevent dominance. With a stable of 30 I'll be able to field a minimum of two horses to cover distance and running conditions in every 3/3+ race I run. In fact looking at how some of them run I'll probably have a choice of 3/4 at distances between 6-10f.

Yes please, this is what I have (probably very inarticulately) been trying to say!

Re: When should the league start?
Max stable size of 20, maidens every week, max field of 16 in Group races.

Re: When should the league start?
Agreed
We all agreed on a stable of 20 for the flat and 30 for NH. We will go back to this if everyone is agreed.
The schedule was agreed on by most. If we all happy with this the league can start sooner rather than later.
Deciding on distance spreads won't cause any delay with the start of the league. Nor will stable size for that matter. The only delay may have been the schedule. But the odd change won't be a big issue. A total overhaul will be. Dave has the schedule Rich posted.

Re: When should the league start?
ya agree with 20 and current schedule the vote on distance rules is opened and wont cause any delays to start it seemed to be the major issue so would like to vote on it and get it sorted and finished for this season we will go with the majority want is everyone is happy with that

Re: When should the league start?
Ok I am lost for words sorry I don't like the new Flat schedule at all 20 horses a stable is absolute rubbish IMO but I wont be having a flat stable I thought steve's ideas and schedule was better more handicaps than group races is better although I kind of agree with some that a furlong either side of the horse's maiden run would be fine.
I am disappointed to see steve go again he puts a lot of effort in the league with the Schedules previews etc. and why we just couldn't let season 1 go ahead without all this bickering is beyond me.

Re: When should the league start?
Hi Simpleminds
Steve wont be involved any more and that is disappointing but i completely understand why he has withdrawn it was clear that he was not wanted by some and his inclusion would cause agrivation i find this to be a big shame he was willing to do so much Steve only wanted to enforce rules that would suit his schedule & effectively and importantly make it work and was open to ideas but it all kicked off
I really believe its an impossible task to keep everyone happy i have found the last 24 hours to be very tough and find it amazing how much conflict there was i really tried to do everything for the best but it was not good enough
we now only have 1 schedule to work with and that is rich's the one he planned to use this season anyway starting another Leon has said this would cause delays to start
we no longer have a handicapper or anyone to run the races
i no from Leon that he is close to having the NHC side sorted a few roles to fill but everything is in place on the flat side we are a bit back to square one
