Post horses for courses jockeys for horses
has anyone noticed in ck that horses run differently if you change jockeys ive been trialling the same 12 horses for the past half hour and I know which order they roughly finish in so was surprised when one of the best ones wasn't getting any where near finishing 7/8th must have ran 15/20 races so I deleted him from the race and re-entered so he had a new jock he then went on to win the next 4 races any one else tested this?

It quite possibly could make a difference, but there is little point in spending too much time testing it because jockeys in the league are completely random like in the CK so it isn't a factor you could ever have any control over. If the horse only performs well with a certain jockey then it is probably best to bin it because the likelihood of getting that jockey in the league are slim to none.

I don't think it's the jockey as much as the random number generator (RNG). We don't really know how Mark has coded this but it stands to reason given the variability of races that the horses have their base attributes which generates time they can post and their performance is modified when they race by some multiplier generated by the RNG. You can get strings of poor performances but generally things even out over time. 15-20 runs is a few but it could be circumstance i.e. the horse that usually wins getting more than fair share of low outcomes based on RNG and the other horses getting more than their fair share of good outcomes.

Bear in mind too that your horses are going to be even closer in ability than say the league because you're mostly breeding from the same lines so it won't take much of a change in the RNG to have large effects on your results.

And then there's the issue that no RNG is ever truly random.

hey i guys this was amusing read.

ive been wondering about jockeys too.

sometimes i wish i could edit / make mccoy or ruby the best jockey (arguably)as in real.

then again it probably is more entertaining and fair to randomise it each year so its not so boring to always have nicholls or henderson dominating year in year out

when we say they are random do we mean their rating/graded like top tier jockeys at start each season say the mccoy/ champ is totaly randomised in jockey strengths?

or

do we mean the jockeys are completely random each race?

and is this the same for the trainers in game i assume?

Emerald, this is in the race builder which is separate from the game. So I don't think that jockeys are ranked like that. The jockeys are picked by the race builder when the race is run in the league, this is nothing to do with the jockey's ability. It is just random names being assigned to random horses.

I don't know about in the game, I'm not sure if anybody does. But considering that AP isn't champ every season in the game I suspect a certain amount of the abilities are randomised.
