UK Racecourses
I'm making a set of Google Earth images of all the tracks in SO5 which is just a reason to toy around in GE. I've always loved the UK tracks and their layouts and history. I've looked at them many times and one always fascinates me. Brighton. Spread out in a sort of horseshoe shape on a hillside overlooking the water with a small village in the center. Has anyone been to this track? What track do you find the most picturesque? Have any thoughts? Brighton

Cartmel has to be my favourite, there is no other track like it! http://cartmel-racecourse.co.uk/cartmel ... acecourse/They don't hold any big races, but it's just so unique!

Re: UK Racecourses
I think we have the best tracks in the world along with Ireland so many different kinds of tracks left handed, right handed figure of eight like Fontwell sharp tracks like Fakenham and unique tracks like Epsom and brighton I never play th American game as all the tracks are alike and quite boring.

I've been to brighton, lovely little track! very strange as the way the stand is you watch them come down the hill towards you! I love Sandown and Epsom purely because they are my locals and do like a bit of Leafy Lingfield now and again, Meydan blew everything out of the water for me though, different gravy.

Re: UK Racecourses
Cartmel surely has the best location! Fakenham's a nice little course. As close to chester as you'll get on a full time jumps track, only problem is they go out of view for about a half furlong to a furlong. Newmarket forager historical importance as well as the unique straight track(s)- if you think about it newmarkets really weird- whereas as most tracks have multiple starting chutes and one finish, newmarket has two finish chutes and one shared starting chute!

Windsor - Hmmm if only there was someplace I could row my boat after a day at the races.

Re: UK Racecourses
I wish Windsor and Nottingham would stage Jump racing again the New years day meeting at Windsor over the holidays was a big meeting for the course.

The newmarket town plate is the oldest sporting event of any kind in the world- 3m6f flat race for amateur riders- also the longest flat race in the world. To see it from the angle of my photo, you need to turn your photo into the opposit direction. The odd green bushy area in the bottom left of your photo is the golf course, formerly the jumps course, where races such as the cheltenham gold cup and grand national were once held.

Re: UK Racecourses
Wow! Was I off! I had no idea there was a course where you highlighted it yellow and purple. Thanks for the heads up. Safe to say Newmarket is unique.
