Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
The prices being banded about for this horse for next years Derby are quite ridiculous, and now having won a minor Dundalk maiden the bandwagon will soon be in overdrive.
What was the name of that 3yo who was supposed to be a Derby contender having won a Dundalk maiden by 10L, Ernest something? Could we please wait until this colt races in pattern company before we all hail him the next Eclipse?

Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
It was a decent start Matt could not of asked for more really i am certainly not calling him the next eclipse on the back of that but was a fair start to his career
a minor dundalk maiden winner won the 1000 guineas by 9 lenghs this year matt it turned out to be a career highlight after a few poor performances but a classic winner nevertheless

Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
My point is, we are in the middle of July and already this colt is being talked up as the next Derby winner, it's crazy. In no way shape or form has he justified being as short as 10/1 based on that effort today. At the moment, he is all hype, which is nothing new when it comes to Ballydoyle.

Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
Matt its a joke that Boyles had him at 12s 2 weeks ago b4 a race its the media that hype his horses up look at racing post 5 mins after race had a whole page up about his maiden win headlines like mars hacks up, full in depth analysis about his win(which i must admit is the headline i have used on my website) how many A/Wmaiden winners get that immediate coverage very very few all i have ever said in this thread is he is one to put in the note book nothing more the media hype today has been over the top the amount of time ATR spent talking about him b4 and after was over the top at the end of the day i was impressed he could not have done much more and i do think he is an exciting prospect but alot more to prove yet

Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
I thought it was pretty impressive, he's blown apart an average field but based on the home reports how the hell did he go off 4/7?
I'd much rather put £70 on him there than £4 on him now for the Derby. Even if you work for AOB, if you turn up to any bookies and say what price can I have on this son of Galileo, out of a mare by Danehill, named after the God of War, trained by one of the most successful trainers ever, owned by one of the most successful partnerships ever, they are going to offer you something silly.

I'm not saying Mars won't win next years Derby, I just can't understand how anyone can say he will off the back of a Dundalk maiden, even if he was favourite for the race before he had even seen a racecourse.

I agree with you matt but some would have said the same about camelot after his maiden but he went on to do the derby guineas double Mars has alot to prove before he can even be talked about as a derby prospect as camelot did after his maiden i do think Mars has the potential to be top class & have backed him for the derby. my uncle told me about Mars a month ago once isaw the opening prices for the derby on 23rd June i was flabbergasted so i opened this thread i was also told about alfonso de souza who could be a decent horse on better ground who knwos could be a guineas prospect horse racing is not about betting for me i could just sit and watch a decent race without a bet and still get great enjoyment from just watching good horses so betting is not the be all and end all for me i just love racing. i always do though put an antepost portfolllio together for the classics around this time of year so i have horses to follow throughout the year not masive amounts just an interest. so basicly this thread was open for people to keep any eye on a few horses thats it really i never said once in this thread (get on mars for the derby he will wn) but anyone who did back him at 16/1 when i posted in june they now could lay off at 10s

Re: unraced 2yos to put in the notebook
afonso de sousa got better ground and we saw his potential winner by 9 lengths and looks smart could be heading to the breeders cup at end of the season
Mars form took a boost when the ferryman who was beat by mars won and beat coventry 7th letitir mor
