Both winners today missed the break and had a traffic trip. Imagine how they'd be if they had a trouble free trip. Impressive. Word is that O'Brien will aim Hit It A Bomb towards the Kentucky Derby. Seeing how week the 2yo colts division in the States is and how impressive Hit It A Bomb was today and in his Dundalk win on synthetic, he could be a big threat to give O'Brien his first Kentucky Derby. Just hope he races in the States leading up to the race, not hoping that the Juvenile Turf points will get him in. |

Multi race payoffs show Alice Springs, Last Waltz and Gliding By being bet. All the big win money is on Alice Springs. Sticking with longshot Gliding By. |

Can't see Harmonize losing this race. Last Waltz is a good longshot on the outside. Hoping to hit home this Pick 4. Two legs to go. 2 deep here. |

Catch A Glimpse put up a 91 Beyer at a mile on soft turf. She proved again here on soft turf. |

Nice win for Catch a Glimpse, she beat my horse by 5L last time. She looked impressive in that race. |

If this wasn't the Breeders' Cup (and if Alice Springs wasn't a Euro), there would've been an inquiry with Catch A Glimpse taking away the lane for Alice Springs. Ryan Moore needed to stop down the stretch. But good win. |

If the turf is fast, may be a play but won’t be a win contender. Really should listen to my analysis more often.... |

That hurts MJ. Multi race payoffs for the Distaff show that Stopchargingmaria and I'm A Chatterbox being bet heavily. Wedding Toast and Stellar Wind getting solid play. Calamity Kate getting some play too. Sheer Drama and Got Lucky are icy. Heavy win money on I'm A Chatterbox, Stopchargingmaria and Stellar Wind. |

My takeaways from Day 1: -Hit It A Bomb is very impressive and O'Brien is aiming him for the Kentucky Derby. He tops my 2yo colts charts right now. -Liam's Map reminds me of Blame. He is a horse that isn't one of the best in the nation but can win when it matters and should be a great sire. I'm looking forward to his first crop in a few years. -Catch A Glimpse is exciting on soft ground. I would like to see Mark Casse send her to England for the 1000 Guineas. -The 3yo fillies are nothing special. Stellar Wind would've won if this was at Santa Anita. Todd Pletcher is poised for a big Breeders' Cup. Day 2 will be a lot of fun. Looking forward to Songbird and Swipe. Golden Horn could put on a show if the turf dries up a bit more. And of course American Pharoah goes for the Grand Slam! ------------------------- Also, why do people say that this could be the first Grand Slam in history? I understand that the Breeders' Cup hasn't been around the last time there was a TC winner but the Marlboro Cup was considered the year end championship and both Secretariat and Seattle Slew won. Or even the Jockey Club Gold Cup in its hay day (won by Man O' War, War Admiral, Citation, and Gallant Fox, just to name a few). Feel like it is unfair to say that this is a first... just a slight alteration to the definition. |

I wish people would shut up about this Grand Slam (CRAP), there is no such thing. This is about one race The Classic and not some made up nonsense. If AP wins it he will have won the Triple Crown and the Classic, not this bull crap Grand Slam. |

I was always under the impression that the Grand Slam was the Triple Crown and the Travers. But apparently that isn't good enough for NBC. Honestly, if Jordan Spieth and Serena Williams didn't have Grand Slam talk about them, this wouldn't be a storyline. But NBC made it and is running with it. Also, surprised that there was an inquiry in the Distaff and not one in the Juv Fillies Turf. Catch A Glimpse came over into Alice Springs path down the stretch. Ryan Moore did not lodge an inquiry cause he knew he'd lose (being a Euro and being a nationally televised event). No change just like why there was no change in Classic last year. Like hell would NBC let the result be different than what was on the track. |

Like hell would NBC let the result be different than what was on the track. I did wonder where this rubbish had come from, I thought it was either the TV or perhaps Coolmore. They like to hype it's horses up before they enter stud. There's one special event in horse racing and that's the triple crown, let's not water it down with this other rubbish. Is anyone worried about American Pharoah and his last two work outs, within the last 11 days he has put in two fast workouts. It could mean he's either at the top of his game or he's done to much, if I was having a large bet then I would be worried because I don't like it when horses workout super fast before a race. If the race course run's the same way as yesterday then the only 2 horses that could give him a race Honour Code and Tonalist with have no chance to come from the back. If AP is to join the greats then he needs to go under the 2 Minute, he's never ran a fast race and this course is set up for fast times. |

First race of the day on the dirt shows that Keeneland has returned to the bias that was around for much of the meet, one of a 3-4 length stalking trip on the inside. But the Juvenile Dirt Sprint race up next will tell a lot. Ground playing slow however. |
