Sychronised put down?

Yep, Synchronised and According To Pete were the two that lost their lives.

It's obviously sad that According To Pete died, but it's a disaster for the race and for horse racing in general that the Gold Cup winner has been killed. Without a doubt the most high profile horse death the race has ever seen.

Just said on BBC, injury must be worse than feared. Retired to stud

A terrible day for British racing to lose a champion on the flat (to stud) and a champion over the jumps on the same day. I know Synchronised's death wasn't directly related to him breaking free at the start, but I really wish they'd decided not to run him after that. A lot of questions will be asked, I think. Yet more dreadful publicity for the Grand National, just when we all thought it couldn't get any worse after last year.

I'm sure no-one involved with the horses will read any of this but it is so sad and every thought goes out to the connections of Synchronised and According To Pete. Neither deserved that, I wasn't a Synco fan but he was a good horse (not sure a National horse) and According To Pete was just a wonderful horse to watch up front at somewhere like Haydock or Wetherby never giving in. Weird Al also being treated on the course, he shouldn't have run but fingers crossed he's ok, I really think he might have a decent race in him one day.

Also devastated about Frankel, anyone know what he did in the end? Noting on t'internet about it yet...

probably not that bad an injury but they dont wanna risk him!!

Like I said, synchronised should never have ran in that race - i feel like im done with horse racing because that was unforgivable and a disgrace

Sorry to hear about synchronised and according to Peter, awful especially considering the media coverage they had got, think Neptune collonges was a deserving winner, always been up there in the big races but never won.

Think the Frankel news is a mistake by Clare balding, no decision being taken until he has been scanned.

Synchronised shouldn't have run and neither should weird al have run, awful thing for according to Pete is he was brought down. Thought improvements were working after first fence, but both deaths were still at bechers.
