Cigar

One of the most popular horses to run in my lifetime. A well bred horse who was running below expectations on the turf for which he seemed specifically bred for. He was tried on dirt and the rest is history. 16 wins in a row. Twice horse of the year. I remember during his races how you could always count on his 'move' at the same time and same part of track in every race. Cigar would always make a move on the final turn three or four wide passing the others with such ease. Oh yeah, Maryland bred by the way. RIP Cigar :(

Cigar was a good horse but I am going to Pick a horse who got me interested in racing in 1973 its the first National I watched and first horse race I ever watched because that was the first year my old man let me pick a horse to bet although I never picked the winner the winner went on to be a legend and still the only horse to win the Grand National three times
