Ebor Festival 2015 Handicapping Competition
Its time for the Ebor Festival! Four Days of great racing action and of course there has to be a handicapping competition to go with it. Here, you pick a horse in each of the races each day (as well as an alternate in case of your pick being a non-runner... Put in parentheses after your pick). All your picks for the day must be in before the first race of the day. You don't need to submit all of the 4 days at once. Standings from the day will be posted sometime after the final race of the day but before the first race of the next day (can't promise that they will be right after the last race). Points will be based on the chart below. Also, the first and second place finishers of this will be given a bid to compete in the Mjtags' Starters Orders Handicapping Championship 2015 (come November/December). Good Luck!
Points: Up to 5/1: 20 pts 1st, 5 pts 2nd 6/1 to 10/1: 23 pts 1st, 7 pts 2nd 11/1 to 15/1: 26 pts 1st, 9 pts 2nd 16/1 to 20/1: 29 pts 1st, 11 pts 2nd 21/1 to 25/1: 32 pts 1st, 13 pts 2nd 26/1 to 30/1: 35 pts 1st, 15 pts 2nd 31/1 and Up: 38 pts 1st, 17 pts 2nd (all odds are inclusive... If in between, odds rounded up, 5.5/1 to 6/1. Odds based on Timeform iPhone App)
Ebor Festival Standings (Final): 1- Ghostzapper74 - 151 2- PeterS94 - 137 3- Mjtags11 - 120 4- PJRhodes1970 - 102 5- Simpleminds - 96 6- Hysteria21 - 69 7- Nasty Nas8 - 65 8- Kevcon - 50 9- Cairns123 - 41 10- SiriusChill - 37
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mjtags' Starters Orders Handicapping Championship 2015
The Championships will be at the end of the year although no weekend has been set (leaning towards Japan Cup Weekend... if you have any suggestions please comment). The other competitions giving bids are: Arc Weekend, British Champions Day, and the Breeders Cup. SO Handicapping Championship 2015 Bids: Belmont Stakes Challenge: Sirius Chill, PJRhodes Royal Ascot Competition: PJRhodes, Johnny16dar Glorious Goodwood Competition: Ghostzapper74, PJRhodes Ebor Festival Competition: Ghostzapper74, PeterS94

Re: Ebor Festival 2015 Handicapping Competition
Also, if you have any suggestions on when the Championships should be, please comment on that as well. They will definitely be in November or December and will feature a mix of tracks and races. I am in between Japan Cup weekend or Hong Kong International Festival weekend but am open for suggestions. There will be a combination of flat, jump, and harness racing that you can choose from (over the three days Championships, you can choose at max 8 races from the 20 allotted). Races from across the world will be used (a focus of course on any group races or races of international importance).

Count me in please! I'll definitely be a participant because I'm off work unlike for the Goodwood one! I am seriously ready for this week. The Juddmonte is unreal as it stands. Five top quality horses all facing each other, right on my doorstep!
Good luck all!

I'm in. I think it should be the breeders cup for the final. It's a fitting end to the comp.

Re: Ebor Festival 2015 Handicapping Competition
Really hope we get to see Gleneagles versus Golden Horn tomorrow. I live a few minutes from the racecourse and we had 9 mm of rain but it was steady rain all day, nothing heavy. It's a dry and warm forecast tomorrow morning and the course drains quite well now. I have fingers crossed we get the race we've been advertised.

Re: Ebor Festival 2015 Handicapping Competition
I would love to see those two lock horns (no pun intended). I hate that the Golden Horn team likes to scratch out just because of the surface conditions. Honestly, a great horse doesn't prove itself over easy company or favorable conditions. If the surface costs a horse a win, so be it. But if that horse comes out and wins in unfavorable conditions just makes the horse better looking back. That is a big reason why I love harness racing, the trainers enter the horses in the best races out their and don't try to avoid horses. I'm going to keep hoping that these two Classic winners face off. And with The Grey Gatsby and Criterium in the race, it should be interesting. Even though The Grey Gatsby seems to never find the winners circle outside of like twice a year, the connections keep putting him against the best. Should be interesting to watch how he finishes.
Also, my selections:
Day 1: 1:55 Lucky Beggar (Highland Acclaim) 2:30 Mohab (Recorder) 3:05 Storm The Stars (Tashaar) 3:40 Golden Horn (Time Test) 4:20 Noble Silk (Big Thunder) 4:55 Reputation (Mayfair Lady)
