Florida Derby - Mohaymen will have the racing community abuzz after this race. Nyquist easily the best of rest. Has a terrible dosage number for a mile and an eighth. Gulfstream Park Oaks - Mo' Green improved dramatically second out. Off The Tracks the one to beat. Spiral Stakes - Kasseopia just needs to break well and should wear down these. Azar has a terrible post but should be feared. Bourbonette - Dorodansa has a sneaky pattern. She should fire today. Inconclusive to pick up second. |

Florida Derby: Just seems to be a match race between Mohaymen and Nyquist. And while I would love to drop a bomb here... I can't find one. ---Top Pick: Mohaymen ---Alternate: Nyquist Gulfstream Park Oaks: There is a lot of speed in this race, and could be a race record. Gomo and Off the Tracks are the two best, but Off the Tracks has never raced in a route race and Gomo is off of a long layoff. Mo' Green knows how to race at distance and is going to sit just off the pace for hopefully Mo' Money. ---Top Pick: Mo' Green ---Alternate: Gomo Spiral: A personal favorite race, the Spiral has been my main focus. Not too strong of a field and with many of the better class horses drawing wide, a price should be where to go. Turfway is a very rail favoring track and I'll go with Don't Be So Salty, who is undefeated on the synthetic. ---Top Pick: Don't Be So Salty ---Alternate: Airoforce Bourbonette Oaks: Interesting race. Very tough to pick a standout here and just like the Spiral, could be tuned up for a price. But I'll shy away from that notion and go with the class, Dorodansa. Has been improving and McPeek knows how to train them on the synthetic. ---Top Pick: Dorodansa ---Alternate: Miss Meteor |

I will be taking on Nyquist in the derby, he's unbeaten but still the times are saying he's average. The three year old maiden run early on was run as fast as this years florida derby. This years three year old colts look bog average. I hate this points system they have now because 3yo fillies cant run in the derby any more, Songbird would whack them and Cathryn Sophia would give them a run. Go Maggie Go did ghostzapper proud last night, she looked really good in her maiden win and she proved she could step up in class. Problem is she might meet Songbird in the Oaks. |

Well Mohaymen was a bust. Looking at his DRF PP's a little closer earlier today I see signs of possible chinks in his armor. His Beyer's aren't what they should be progression wise and he has some dubious trip notes in his previous races - Drifted/Drifted/Bumped. I would not be surprised if there are some issues going on with him. Nyquist ran lights out - like he was geared to win this race at all costs. He also is not running Beyers to what I expect of him. I suggest the farther he goes the more vulnerable he becomes. His dosage number is that of a sprinter. Gulfstream's biased track helped him too. The standings after week 5... Ghostzapper - 75 mjtags - 50 PeterS94 - 35 SiriusChill - 21 Simpleminds - 10 Ghost takes the lead with the help of the bonus of two $10+ winners. Peter joins in with a nice start. Peter you posted your choices and hour or more after the first race went off. I will let it slide because I seriously doubt you had nefarious intentions. |

Total mistake, I'm not a massive follower of american racing but saw two horses i'd heard of so put them in then just copied the other two not knowing that the race had already been ran. |

The Transylvania Stakes - Beyer Speed figure wise Catapult towers over these. Chad Brown skips allowance races and goes right into a graded stakes. Looks good to me. He will have to catch the expected lone speed of Shakhimat who should be very tough on the front end. Catapult Shakhimat - alternate |

Whoa I almost forgot my picks. Hope I'm not past posting here - in my own contest... Wood Memorial Stakes - Tale of S'avall/Flexibility Gazelle Stakes - Dreams to Reality/Clair de Lune Bay Shore Stakes - Awesome Gent/Awesome Speed Ashland Stakes - Cathryn Sophia/Rachel's Valentina Blue Grass Stakes - Brody's Cause/My Man Sam Fantasy Stakes - Taxable/Terra Promessa Santa Anita Derby - Exaggerator/Danzing Candy Santa Anita Oaks - Songbird/She's a Warrior Providencia Stakes - Lady Valeur/Sheeza Milky Way Good luck all. Ghostzapper - I heard the connections of Songbird asked the track officials for permission to keep racing Songbird after the finish line. If Cathryn Sophia wins today the Kentucky Oaks is going to be a doozy. |
