Will be an interesting attempt. He surely looked assured in his debut chase.

He has alot to prove yet his debut was solid but alot of people have gone over the top about it faces a
completely different league of horses should they go that route

He could but as Paul says he still has a lot to prove. Beating inferior opposition in what was little more than a schooling session does not imo a Gold Cup favourite make.

Yes, If he runs he wins. Pretty simple to me. The staying chasers aren't that good to be honest.

Djakadam has been and just doesn't look good enough.
Cue Card will be to old.
Coneygree is so ground dependent although if it came up soft then different story.
Don Poli won't be quick enough again.
Don Cossack isn't certain to get there.
Douvan won't stay.
Vautour won't stay.

I'd run one more chase in novice company then go to King George.

How about we throw Irish Cavalier in the mix? I have been a fan of this horse for a while and that Charlie Hall Chase win was impressive.

Don't think Irish Cavier is good enough. Beat ageing horses in Cue Card and Menorah.

If More Of That got over his problems i'd be happier backing him at a big price E.W

Agree regarding Irish Cavalier, just think there are a couple of classier horses that should beat him.

Regarding More of That its a big concern that whenever he has a tough race he tends to get a lot of problems, and they don't get much tougher than the Gold Cup at Cheltenham either.

You can't say for certain unless they try the trip. Vautour was beaten a head in the King George and Cue Card went on to win the Betfair and might have won the Gold Cup if he didn't fall, so Vautour might get the Gold Cup trip. Douvan hasn't raced further than 2m 1f so it would be a huge question mark but Mullins has recently been saying he might try him in the King George and possibly the Gold Cup

Racing Post is reporting that Vautour has been put down after a freak accident.

Terrible news, especially with losing 2 in one day.

Such a sad loss, especially for close connections of the horse, like most racing fans I was completely shocked, Vautour was a superstar and had so much more to give. His JLT win in 2015 was one of the best rounds of jumping I've ever seen at the festival.
