Post Melbourne Cup field for next Tuesday.
Here is a list of the first round of Melbourne Cup entries with a heap of entries from overseas.
My money will be on the Japanese horses :-)

US Army Ranger was 2nd in the 2016 Derby been a big disappointment since but
could be well handicapped for this

Order of St George was the champions stayer last year multiple G1 winner and
3rd in the Arc and if he went he will for sure be the toppy

Order of St George would be top weight for sure - big money on offer just for the Melb Cup - if they bring him earlier they could try winning the Caulfield Cup which is big money as well.

I'll keep updating this post with Melbourne Cup news.

I remember when the great YEATS was sent I think that told us then Aidan
does not train horses suited to this race and then we had the 3 sent over who
were virtual pacemakers Honolulu Septimus & Alesandro Volta

US Army Ranger could be very interesting. He is undoubtedly a dog but the change of scenery might revitalize him and he would be theoretically very well handicapped.
I wouldn't waste the transport fees on Order Of St George as the race will not suit him at all.

Good chance US Army Ranger might be run out here in Oz with an eye on trying to sell him or leaving him here for breeding if he is an entire.

Can't trust US Army Ranger so wouldn't bother sending him, Think Order Of St George would have a massive chance.

Just a question. Do 3yo get any allowances?

As PJ said - 3yo's don't get an allowance BUT if they are exceptionally good they do get in with a light weight. The path of any 3yo of worth that can stay over the spring carnival is to run in the VRC Derby at Flemington which is run three days before the Melbourne Cup.
In Australia, August 1 is the start of the horses birthday year.
So not many 3yos race in the Cup. Nothin Leice Dane was the last 3yo of note to run in the Cup.

If he's as good as he is suppose to be then I think 58kg isn't a bad weight.
I think with that weight they will make the trip to Melbourne for the Cup!

He is second fave at the moment - and yesterday morning was at 17-1. Probably a bit shorter now with the weights.
