so id very much doubt they will geld a horse that finished 2nd in the derby the fact he is
with Joseph and is heading to Aus makes me think Lloyd owns him now and not JP that would
also put weight behind my thought process of him not going jumping plus agree dont think he
would have the attitude for it either looking at things he could be bottom weight in the cup

I think he could be very interesting in the race, especially off such a low weight. Mind you if they give him a prep run down under I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. New trainer and new surroundings I would think his best performance is going to be first time out (if he is ever going to do it which is obviously debateable given his record).

US Army Ranger has been in quarantine here with Rekindling and Joseph is very happy with both horses
They both will run in the Melbourne Cup.

I can't for the life of me see how the tempo of a Melbourne Cup is going to suit a horse like US Army Ranger, who doesn't have a turn of foot; hence why they have tried him over 2m+ this year.

Makes more sense then gelding him and sending him over sticks its also confirmed
that Lloyd Williams now owns him.

I don't think he should go over hurdles; he isn't brave enough for it. I just don't see how a sprint finish is going to suit
a horse who doesn't have any pace and is regressive (he is now a stone lower than when he was runner-up in the Derby).

Personally, I would geld him and give him another year, but lower his sights somewhat. He could easily pick up a Listed or
Group 3 over a trip; he just needs to be sweetened up a bit.

Difficult when you have to carry a G1 place penalty he is also a Group 2 winner so in listed company im guessing he would be
seriously penalized

When did he win a Group 2? He may not have much of a penalty next year seeing as it's been two years since he
performed/was placed at the top level.

So when you think about it, if they hadn't have let him win at Chester - which was a disgrace - then he only has a
maiden victory next to his name.

I think you'd have to be mad to geld a Derby-second-place son of Galileo just so you could win a Group 3 race. The prize for that would be about £75k at the max, whereas he'd fetch that at stud in a couple of days.

If he stood as a national hunt sire - Derby Placed + Sire Galileo + Dam Classic winner.

even if he was to stand for 3k and only got 50 mares that would equate to £150,000 Per Year

Think you are doing him down mate he would be appealing to NH breeders even low end flat breeders
could even see him standing in an emerging market tons of sons of Galileo standing all over the world
some are not even race winners I have a list if you like.
