Re: National Hunt Chat
Anyone heard anything about Barters Hill. I'm sure he was back in training for this season but he hasn't been entered anywhere. Not sure if ive missed anything?

Last I heard he was on track for a comeback around Christmas and will be aimed at the stayers hurdle. Seems they don’t want to risk him over fences after his injury.

Re: National Hunt Chat
There's got to be issues in the Willie Mullins yard, I've never known his horses run so bad. His novice hurdlers haven't started great and most horses don't seem to be finishing there race off. As for Faugheen, why is there this big issue. He's obviously just bounced. Haven't heard one person mention it. It happens to most horses after a lay off. Can see Nicky cleaning up at Cheltenham.

Only a fool would write off team Mullins at this stage but it must be a very difficult Christmas for them to take its been too bad to be true there are not many positives to take out of the last week but id say he will be champion trainer at Cheltenham again next year. Dont think I have seen Rich Ricci more depressed then yesterday.

I'd be backing Nicky. Looks to have three championship races sewn up. On another note has anyone heard anything about Topofthegame? He took a fall in november on novice chase debut and haven't seen him entered up anywhere..

Re: National Hunt Chat
Am i the only one that is getting annoyed with the constant Bryony Frost headlines. Bryony has a Grand National ride. Bryony rides a winner. Wow. Yes she is doing good great but there's plenty of others doing the same with no headlines. Just a bit sick of hearing about her. We didn't hear about how she gave Black Corton a bad ride in the RSA.. She for some reason made the running, constantly asking him for big jumps when he isn't that sort of ride.

I have no issue with it and she has won alot of big TV races this year
every jockey on the planet makes mistakes they are human beings not machines and certainly not perfect.
I found the Victoria Pendleton story far more frustrating TBH the overkill on that was very frustrating.

Re: National Hunt Chat
I understand she's won plenty of races but its getting to the point a winner at Taunton is a headline. There's plenty of others who are riding winners but they don't get the same attention.

I can recall the ride Pendleton gave her was awful, hunting around at the back ... too far back keeping out of trouble. The horse ran on like a train in the closing stages as he normally does but she left him to much to do. She got more coverage and praise than Nina Carberry who won. In reality she should have been lambasted for bottling it and staying too far back. Poor old Pacha could have had three Foxhunter wins to his name if it wasn't for Pendleton.

Re: National Hunt Chat
So is Douvan now a Gold Cup horse, he looked slow there. Just couldn't go the pace with Un De Sceaux and ground that would be that suitable. Mullins seems to ignore the Ryanair too some extent. Its either Champion Chase or Gold Cup. Not sure what to make of him there.

Re: National Hunt Chat
To my eye it looked like Douvan blew up which can only be expected of a horse who hasn't completed a 2 mile race for well over a year, He was only at the mile and a half marker when coming to grief at Cheltenham, Add to that he was giving race fitness to the crazy tough Un De Sceaux on ground that Un De Sceaux likes then Douvan's defeat isn't actually that bad, He wasn't tailed off was he? Answer no, Did he easily put a gap between him and the third?, Answer yes, This horse will never go anywhere near a Gold Cup for the simple reason being he is a Champion Chaser, Ok he has been beaten twice this year but Mullins has needed to get him back and started somewhere, Next year Douvan should be back to a proper season with a easy first victory and with fitness on his side then he will be scaring the living daylights out of Altior!!!!!

Re: National Hunt Chat
Completely disagree. The ground wasn't soft so didn't suit Un De Sceaux. As the jockey and trainer said he wasn't enjoying the ground. Un de Sceaux hasn't been at his best this season even in winning his races and isnt getting any better. From my first viewing he just couldnt go the pace and was struggling to close on him from a long way. As for the bunch behind him they aren't great so you'd expect him to beat them. Baring Min there Grade 2 / 3 horses at best. Douvan wont beat Altior.

Re: National Hunt Chat
I think he had a brain fade. I read in some of the comments that that was the last jump - I think he might have thought the jumping was over and that he had to take the gap onto the course proper to the winning post? If anything he should have been drug and booze tested straight after the race.

He Looked around and when he looked back I think he saw that part of the fence which had been made smaller and in spilt second thought the fence had been Closed off.
