My pleasure, Tomas. To see those two champs of their day, set loose at the 800m/4f and go toe to toe, punch for punch like two heavy weight boxers - breath taking stuff! You can't really hear it in that video but I clearly remember hearing Bill Collins thump a table or ledge in front of him as he called Bonecrusher the winner The following year Bonecrusher lost to Horlicks in the Cox Plate - who then travelled to Japan and won the Japan Cup. A lot of the world dont believe us but our Australian and New Zealand Champions are as good as the best anywhere on the planet. |

After a bit of nosing around I realised that back in the day I must have heard Frank O'Brien's Cox Plate call as it was him who thumped the table. Here is a link to four different race callers who called the Cox Plate that year. Frank O'Brien, Greg Childs, Bruce McAvaney and Bill Collins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXiwfGrui0g |

Has there ever been a more cracking field in a Cox Plate than 1992? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qucn5nCzkTI |

Naturalism (lime green with white band and yellow cap) - who six weeks earlier fell in the Cox Plate - pulls out this effort when not fully fit, in the 1992 Japan Cup. Listen to the crowd erupt at the top of the straight. I'm saying this now amongst friends.........before I die, I gotta leave the missus at home and attend a Japan Cup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlTrGl8EOIk Skip to 3.00 for the race start. Please enjoy. |

The Bonecrusher/Our Waverley Star race has echoes of Grundy v Bustino at Ascot in 1975. Both jockeys would almost certainly get lengthy whip bans in Europe these days for rides like that. But yes it was a thrilling race. Here is the Ascot race in case you haven't seen it. https://youtu.be/bWQF7yAdgP8 |

Well that trial she had at Randwick between races where her trial time over 1200m/6f was faster than the G3 that day over the same distance........well you couldn't rule her out - but i doubt she will run in the Everest. |
