So which of this years top two novices is going to come out on top next year? Before yesterday would have said SS having not heard how good Sanctuaire was but flicked through his previous form and after finishing last in christmas hurdle appears he is a different animal over fences, won all by more than 10l and second race won by 41l, and beat some top class horses by 17l leading from the front in testing condition. I fancy him to at least get SS going and possibly even beat him! Any thoughts?

Agree with KeithBeaky - Sanctuaire being underestimated here i think, he absolutley slammed some very good horses at Aintree, better horses than Sprinter Sacre beat.

On the form currently there, I would argue that Sanctuaire has beaten better horses than Sprinter over fences so far. So, although I would probably side with Sprinter if someone stuck a gun in my face, I would fear this progressive chaser a lot.

Agreed what has Sprinter sacre actually beaten? Last years novice hurdlers. Who has sanctuaire faultlessly demolished by 17l- Somersby( who may have been carrying a bit more weight) and wishfull thinking in just his 3rd start over fences.

The soft ground and stamina will bring the best out of Sanctuaire

Sprinter Sacre will brush him aside, Sanctauire is a bridle horse and for those who say what has SS beaten look at the form book, a demolition of a champion hurdle runner up counts as good form in anyones eyes

I agree he's the better horse. But i wouldn't to get too involved on soft ground. Peddlers Cross is AWFUL over fences as is Menorah compared to their potential from hurdle form.

Te athlete is a reason peddles cross has gone back to hurdling because he showed nowhere near the same form over fences as he did over hurdles. What's to say SS isn't a bridle horse either, he's never really been asked a question. Also finishing at least seven or eight lengths clear of Somersby and wishfull thinking, even if he is a bridle horse, which I doubt, is impressive. These are proven chasers, peddles cross was not proven over fences and it showed.

Well my opinion is that Santuaire looked a bridle horse when he ran over hurdles, he let me down many times when i was a fan(and I'm not talking about losing money betting either), even if SS is a bridle horse he is one that can do it breaking track records, he's ability to travel and jump burn horses out so there is a possibility we will never know if he finds anything because he will probably never be asked a question

If you look at SS over hurdles in the supreme novices he found nothing off the bridle either. Over fences sanctuaire hasn't been asked a question either, he's a different animal. He has been riddn completely differently over fences and has been allowed to lead and it has suited and transformed him. Do don't write him off remember whilst SS was chasing all season he only started after Christmas and he has already won all 3 races including an open not novices grade 2 by a total of 30+ lengths.
