Little race being run here today called The Kentucky Derby. Maybe you've heard of it? :D Thought I'd go on record with my choices.

1. Creative Cause - Perfectly prepared to run today. Barely asked to do anything in it's last race. Second time blinkers-off should make him see things much better.

2. Union Rags - Also prepped perfectly for this.

In my opinion these two should be a good distance away from the rest of the field close to the wire.

3. Alpha
4. Bodemeister
5. I'll Have another

No way Calvin Borel wins this year. No f'ing way!--- I've said that before... :?

My forum name derived from falling in love with the looks of Union rags in the last few month, he's by far one of the most stunning animals I've seen for a long time. Though i'm going for Take Charge Indy e/w, think he has the stamina and really was impressive last time and has enough speed to sort himself out from his position, also going for Gemologist at a bit of a shorter price, tbh he strikes me as 'favourite' material and i think he may shock everyone with a big win.

Daddylonglegs despite his draw at 20-25/1 is far to big for me

i would like to agree with you BUT

Draw = worse possible
Going = he hated it in breeders cup juvinile
History = Never been a european victor

It seems everything is against DLL

First time I've had a punt on the Derby. Don't really know what it takes to win one, but here goes...

1st Gemologist - Looked like he had a will to win in his last race. Had a tough run, but found more. Will out-guts them.
2nd Dullahan - Stormed home last start. Will do the same here, but once he gets through the traffic he won't have enough to run down Gemologist.
3rd Creative Cause - For odds. Was close in the Juvenile. Fought back for 2nd after a tougher ride last time out.

Had 1st and 2nd around the other way until I started writing this.

Ignoring the two favourites at my own peril.

Didn't give it much thought until today but, one thing the Breeders Cup has taught me is Euro horses on the rail in American races usually tend to drift out big time. If Daddy Long Legs drifts out as bad as some Euro horses I've seen he might wipe out half the field going into the first turn.

I'm on the nose for Union Rags and e/w for Daddy Long Legs here.

Nice to see multiple drug violator Doug O'Neill get a Kentucky Derby win. Google 'Doug O'Neill medication violations' and you'll get an idea about Doug. Not my favorite trainer.

That out of the way, Bodemeister ran his brains out. If he isn't totally spent he should destroy the Preakness field. Creative Cause ran way wide the whole race which probably doomed him. Ran well considering.

Where did Daddy Long Legs finish SC?

Didn't see personally, I was too busy watching my horse finishing fifth while twenty wide.

This from the Daily Racing Form...

"Union Rags, favored over Bodemeister until the final moments of betting, wound up seventh. Irish invader Daddy Long Legs basically was eased, while Florida Derby winner Take Charge Indy finished second-last."

Personally find American racing a bit boring, but decided to watch this as we had some local interest and saw daddy log legs suddenly drop right back from the pace on the final turn in the manner almost of a horse being pulled up due to injury. Hope he is ok.
