Frankel vs Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes?
Could a frankel vs black caviar match race really happen? Qipco have now offered to boost the Sussex stakes prize money from £300,000 to £1million to entice them to meet in the Sussex stakes at goodwood on August 1st. Any think they'll take up the challenge? Whilst I'd love to see it, I think it's going to be a no. Also any thoughts on the potential result? I think it would be frankel personally.

Re: Frankel vs Black Caviar?
not in 10 million years will conecctions put these 2 unbeaten horses in same race will never ever happen
plus BC racing over 1mile means frankel has a loaded hand we no he is a champion miler not fair to expect BC to step up to a trip that suit frankel not that its ever going to happen no way

Personally I would love to see them have a 7f match race at Newmarket, but that won't happen either most likely.

henry cecil and Kalid Abdulla are one of the most protective trainers & owners in the business dont no the owners of BC but they would be stone mad to take on frankel over a mile
IMO BC champion sprinter Frankel Champion miler both champions at different distances
really looking forward to seeing if frankel will be as potent at 1m2f

It is a sharp mile at Goodwood though so if they do meet anywhere over a mile then it will be there. Cant see it though.

To me its a pointless offer they have made and they know in the back of there mind both wouldnt turn up. Asking BC to go 1m is like asking frankel to go 5f. Why people cant be happy with 2 great horses at 2 different distances is beyond me. We should be very happy we get to see super horses like this rather than asking there owners and trainers to run there superstars at wrong distances!!

To be honest they probably wouldn't want to put her into a race over a mile anyway 3 weeks after July cup.

Re: Frankel vs Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes?
News on Sussex stakes: BC connections have not ruled out Sussex stakes. PM told sky sports " It is a great initiative and something we will consider strongly. We have always thought she would handle 1600m and possibly even 2000m, whether she would cope with the training is the concern not the race. It will depend on how well she comes through her intended targets( diamond jubilee and july cup)."

Re: Frankel vs Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes?
Apologies PJ! I'd always prefer to back the experienced campaigner over the newcomer! I'll wear you down in the end Ubar! Ha ha! I think this is really daft, it won't happen. Like the trainer said on the RP website if they stick around much longer they'll miss all the big early season races in Aus which have prize money to rival that without it being boosted. I'd put my money on the first time them meeting is when Frankel covers her, which I think is also fairly unlikely. I can't see this happening. What I would love to see though is Frankel in the Diamond Jubilee or the July Cup against her. This would be really interesting race to watch.
