Im not 1 to post alot on this but im a great reader of the whole forums i know who the main lads are in these forums and most if not all the people on the forums are very helpful and good for the banter. But its been very quiet here recently regarding horses to follow or even the odd tip ! maybe its just me but ive found it alot quieter than usual the past month or 2 .... Daryl

My guess is that most on here are more flat fans then jumps, so the quietness is mostly due to people waiting for the flat season to start?

Totally disagree you put a poll which festival of racing is most enjoyed by the british racing public and nothing compares to either the Cheltenham Festival or The Grand National Meetings at Aintree Royal Ascot is the biggest flat festival but I don't think is anywhere near the Quality of racing that Cheltenham provides.

Money might be better in the flat game/ Breeding but when it comes down to a pure race of say The Derby v The Cheltenham Gold Cup I would suggest the racing public would rather watch the Gold Cup Than the Derby. IMO lol

No doubting Cheltenham is a great event, Hexham in November isn't.

I love the jumps and it has to be said more jumps fans will love the sport for the sport's sake as opposed to flat fans, but flat is worldwide a much bigger sport and has a larger betting following, and I'd you're not a true fan and just like ot for te betting a cold day up at fakenham ( great way to spend new years day by the way, saw some nice prospects) wouldn't hold much appeal whereas an evening up at Newmarket followed by music would appeal to a lot more. Also flat is generally easier to bet on due to the absence of jumps and all the variables they bring.

Actually Wolverhampton 15 race card last week with free entry is very nice indeed 8)

Totally agree nothing beats the Cheltenham festival though.

Dont' want to get too involved in the flat v's jumps debate....but in reality the jumps revolves around Cheltenham/National, with a bit of coverage at Boxing Day, whereas the Flat gets much more balanced coverage and covers the whole season from 1000/2000 guineas-Derby/Oaks-Royal Ascot through to the Champions Meeting. The Cheltenham festival is fantastic as is the Grand National, but these only cover 5 days of jumps racing(non racing fans do not get interested in the Aintree festival, only the GN) Due to the many months of top quality racing the flat season has and the increased media coverage(like that word too much me thinks!!), there is more debate likely to occur around the flat...IMO
