Belgian stewards will conduct an inquiry on Friday into a ride that has developed into an online sensation among racing enthusiasts.
Sacha Stappaerts rode Eastern Warrior, who she also owns and trains, into third in a race over a mile at Mons on January 21 but the ride immediately attracted the attention of the stewards.
The footage shows the jockey restraining Eastern Warrior on many occasions throughout the race before finishing a close third but appearing to have plenty to offer at the end of the race.
Stappaerts blamed stirrup trouble for her performance but stewards suspended the horse and rider pending the outcome of the hearing.

I don't get it! Why anyone would pull on the reins like that when they had stirrup problems is beyond me, she could have at least come up with an excuse like 'I thought he was lame/took a bad step, that is why I blatantly pulled him like that'. But then one could argue if she could take a huge pull like that why couldn't she have just stopped the horse?! Very odd riding. Ultimately she may as well have let the horse cruise up to win, she would have won the prize money at least. But she's going to lose so much more for doing what she did.
