Probably injured. Sounds like the classic injury coverup story. Unlike the canford cliffs 'injury', which was total BS, this sounds like an injury they want to cover up. 25 is a nice number. That's not a reason to retire a horse. Only last week moody was saying he'd like to keep racing her until 2014. So why change that in a week after she won again easily? I know more about her injuries from last year than most, and when lots of high profile horses get injured they don't put it out there, so this sounds like a coverup.

I know from experience horses get injuries that aren't reported( i know of a high profile horse who won't be making an appearance this season) and reports of injuries that are untrue(canford cliffs). This is the best horse the owners will ever own, many were keen on royal ascot once more, and she had 2 runs left in Australia first, so while 25 is a nice number, I'm sure 27 would be even nicer. So I can't swallow the whole nice number rubbish.

I reckon (and this is just me, haven't heard any rumor) she pulled up lame after the TJ. I've watched the replay a few times now and Nolen gave her a fairly decent shake and she only ran 12 her final furlong. There was a decent pace in the race and from the 400-200 she lengthened beautifully but the final 200 she didn't seem quite right.

I know I say this now after the fact but I only watched the replay after the retirement call too see if 'something wasn't right' so to speak.

Ubar you'll be happy mate, now we'll have competitive Gr1 sprints again

I love international racing that's one of the plus points for me of flat over jumps, which is why I was delighted hen I heard about Mullins Japan raid, but what I'm complaining about here is a worldwide racing problem- dishonesty. Remember te kauto star debacle and people said how honest Paul Nicholls was for revealing his fall- what people forgot was it had happened a week earlier and he had clearly only mentioned it because he thought it could affect the horses chances if actually making it to the race.
Also yes, it surprising how good a feeling getting a league winner is! :D

I hope this was a joke Paul, as youve put her above mill reef and Ribot, as well as the greatest ever sprinter abernant, with a rating it's impossible for a mare to achieve, unless she's winning by frankel like distances.

the tweets are genuine
i did a video for timeform a while back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMZ_pCIZ ... NQ&index=6
(there top ten rated horses of all time)
the bottom tweet was just my opinion
RIBOT was a monster
did alot of research about him & there top 10
he to me was really special as was Frankel

I agree with Ubar, again! I'm pretty sure she has come out of the race with a little injury and now she is getting a bit older they just don't want to risk losing her. Moody said 'she has her aches and pains now she's older', so I agree that this is probably a little injury (maybe a small fracture?) which will put her out for 6-8 weeks meaning it will be getting on for spring (over there) before she's ready again. If you retire her now she can get over her injury and then be covered in spring ready to become a mum.

Post Re: Black Caviar Retired
Peter Moody, trainer of Black Caviar, has denied speculation that he's to be investigated over the use of peptides on racehorses.
Moody has already denied that he had ever given his horses steroids, including the recently retired Black Caviar, following the Mahmood
Al Zaeooni steroid scandal and has now been moved to refute further rumours.

Moody said he had been contacted in relation to a story on peptide use in racing that appeared in Fairfax Media on Sunday, but that the
racing authorities had not contacted him.

He said he felt compelled to defend himself in the face of suggestions made on Racing & Sport radio in Australia that ''some of the biggest
and best-known stables in the land'' are under investigation over the use of synthetic peptides, which are at the centre of the scandal that
has enveloped the AFL and NRL.

''I can categorically say that I've never used the drugs they are talking about on any horse,'' Moody told The Age on Tuesday. '

'I can also say I wouldn't know the person they say was involved in supplying the drugs to trainers if he was sitting on the bonnet of my car.''
