Post Softer Ground + a few quieries
Most horses i seem to be buying prefer softer or v soft ground but as i am doin flat season they race mainly when the weather is warm and dry so the ground is always from good to firm to hard, is there any time when the ground is likely to be soft or would they be better on all weather tracks? also just a couple of things ... its a shame that when you win a race the jockey doesnt give you the feedback you sometimes need, he wil just say excellent horse etc when i might be needing to know if he/she prefered the hold up tactic i ordered or he/she liked the ground etc or is this just the fact that if he wins then the tactics ground etc were perfect which i hope not as surely horses can win sometimes even if things were not right that day but opposition just wasnt any better on the day and last of all (phew) do we get any odds on horses? that would be nice beating a 1/4f

Most horses seem to hold their form on the all weather. I've only had one or two who didn't perform because they 'didn't handle the kick back' so your better running soft ground horses their than anywhere that has 'firm' in the going description unless they are top grade horses of course.
Very soft ground horses, mostly, will only run well on heavy ground and struggle to land a blow else where. Your mostly likely to get that type of going pre April and post October but I would generally ship them on to someone else as they are a bit of a time sapper and are not great in the barn because they don't get their conditions enough and pass on their going preference to their off-spring.
You generally find that if you don't employ jockey tactics at all, the horse runs the way it prefers. Once I know that, I'll then set the jockey tactics to match in case the jockey suddenly has a rush of blood and changes tactics to something the horse hates. (Apprentices are quite bad at ignoring what you suggest and bowling off in front) Though sometimes they need tweaking depending on how you think the race may work out before hand; ie you might be able to steel a five runner race from the front if there are no pace horses in the field, despite having a hold up horse (providing it has stats that suggest that's a possibility) or you might want to challenge earlier if running at a shorter than ideal trip.

I had a horse run the other day who was 1/20 on. I didn't realise that was even a price! I'd tend to get rid of very sort ground loving horses. Unless they're very special, in which case it shouldn't really bother them.

I find the jockey tactics really frustrating sometimes. In my jumps game I seem to be getting 'Restrained early' or 'Held up'. Sometimes they are kind enough to say 'Restrained early. Which suited' or 'Held up. Which suited'. Doesn't really help... AT ALL!

Not a price you see in real life much, in horse racing markets anyway. Imagine Federer's been 1/20 in a few matches.
Zaynar got beat at 1/14 the other day and I think a year or two back, a horse got beat at 1/40, can't remember the name though, think it was a race in the Czech Republic.

I don't know if it's just hard to implement or if it's because the odds system is not a major priority, but I find there is still a large number of the field in feature races, mainly handicaps, who are over 50/1, which becomes annoying as a fair number of them seem to win through out the season. Good from the point of view of making money but not for realism.

The 2yo maiden odds seem to have changed from SO2. You used to get a varying market on maidens but now most, if not all the runners seem to open the same price, leaving you with markets that have co-favourites of seven!!
Also noticed if you have an unraced 2yo in a maiden against horses with a run or more, they seem to be put in at massive odds, no matter the breeding or potential. That didn't happen before either.
I like the option to retain the selection on the betting slip though, that saves time and the market moves seem bigger now too. I saw a horse that was 66/1 into 4/1 without my financial involvement. Never seen that before.
