my new horse was running freely in one race what does that mean?. he is excitable but head lad says nothing about him needing pacifiers or gelding

Flat or NH side of game?

This happens lots. Ignore it unless it affects the horses running. JC said he's gelded most of his because they ran freely and the Head Lad reckoned they needed gelding but I have hardly gelded any and not really had any problems. You have to work it out for yourself really. Watch the horse run and decide if it is too excitable in it's races.

Unfortunately, gelding is the only real option.

I would experiment with pacifiers before gelding. Not a complete success, but it's helped me save some colts from the snip.

Also, head lad advice, etc, take it as a guide only. You have to know your own horse.
