Post 2YO Statbars an insight to Breeding
I was recently asked how I trialed horses for the league and of course
it all starts from Breeding im no world beater in the league but I am
competitive and have my successes here and there so I thought id show
you what i look for when it comes to Breeding in the game

Firstly i concentrate only on 3 bars Potential Speed & Cruising Burst
once you get so far into your breeding program you are going to get into
the position where you will no longer be able to improve your lines unless
you go back to using gamebreds in the breeding barn.

So when i get as far as I can with my own horses i take a break from the
game and just start a breeding game and keep breeding until i can improve
one of the 3 statbars mentioned I Bring in some of my best mares and get
the gamebred stallions to cover them and i bring in my best stallions to cover
the gamebred mares and at the start of each season i inspect the 2YO take a
screenshot of there stats and see if one of the bars is higher than my PB if not
i go again.

once i find one with an improved bar i export the horse then i bring it in to a game
and breed him/her as much as possible usually try and find a colt and filly with the
same stat improvement and breed the 2 together and after a while the stat sticks

below you will see an image of how far i have got the bars (Apart from Potential)
have had higher

Image

The Potential bar goes up from 2 to 3 as does the cruising burst but the speed stays the
same as you can see have not managed the full speed bar yet but not far off

The cruising burst is very high for a 2yo I have never had higher and as a combonation
im looking forward to see how these trial.

anyway hope this helps some of you with your breeding programs its just a quick insight
into how i do things.

Interesting at 5 the potential bar is full. One handy stallion!

That's the norm for me, I have a few lines that max at 4yo but most go at 5 or 6 yo.

I posted my breeding technique somewhere already. I can't remember the link. I focus on specific stats and I've explained to others thru email the process involved.

To get an idea if my process works here are 2 save files that show the results.

These 2 games have 11 pregnant mares. No foals are born yet so the foals produced will be random. I can guarantee that every single foal will have a Cruising Burst of 8.0+

Test the saved games out. Name the foals to whatever but as a warning for new players/trainers, if you intend to enter the league, do not breed with these horses. It is just a way to show how easy it can be to mass produce horses with high stats.

So if you plan to enter the league do not breed with these horses. But you can test them out and hopefully you can get something out of it.

With the foals produced, you can then use those to rebreed with the original mares/stallion to have infinite possibilities of breeding.

I'm at the point where every foal produced has full potential (10.0) at 3yo, 8.0+ Cruising Burst, and 9.8+ speed.

The difficulty lies in trialling. Since every horse has similar stats, the winners are random. So choosing the right horse for the league is frustrating.

Just to add to this...

You can re-extract the file and reload the game again and again to produce new different foals. Which you can then crossbreed to each other to get different bloodlines. So the result is an infinite combination of horses.

These approaches to the game just depress me. What depresses me even more is that I have to race against these horses in the league. I've given up on any hope of ever being a serious group level contender. The hell with the 1% I'm with the handicapped class!

Where does one get a 100% potential 3yo? I think maybe I've seen one before? 2yo's with 80+ cruising burst? That means at 3 they get around a 15 to 20 point increase which puts them at 100%!

I have stats collected for nearly 500 horses. I only keep my best horses with solid stats. 95% of them had a full in game racing career from 2 to 4. The highest cruising burst recorded at retirement (5yo) is in the lower 70's. Where does somebody get these Cruising Burst freaks that seem to be the key to everything?

Isn't the speed bar in the main parameter box also a major player? All my best usually have 100% there.

Me too, sort of takes the shine off the league for me, but I dip my hat to those with the time to make it a science not a game.

I feel the pain as well BUT I have a plan in place that works for me. I am still playing my original stock game that I got started a couple of years ago.
It is of course a slow breeding programme but the more I go along the more I am tweaking it and focusing it.
I am confident that with time I will have a horse or two that can match it at the top but that will be it - just a horse or two and the rest will be handicappers.

I believe if you want to be a Group 1 trainer you have to run a modified game and an aggressive breeding programme.

Sirius plays a great training game and has competitive horses in the league.
I play trainer/owner like most and after 2+ years I still enjoy playing the stock game racing on the Aussie circuit.
It just comes down to what you want and the game you play.

For most of us handicappers all I can say is place your horses carefully in the league and work within the ratings of each of your horses :-)

I am running two games along each other 1 Flat 1 Jumps I am ok over the jumps not that far behind on the flat a couple of good horses but not up to Johns, Pauls horses but just breed my best horses with my best horses after 13 years on each guaranteed after 30 years I be Number 1

I think when you get so far into the game you need a challenge to keep going
I Personally enjoy the challenge of improving the stat bars i get enjoyment out
of the challenge as after a while the game itself is no longer a challenge and I
see nothing wrong with it my self I dont see it as a scientific project at all just a
different way of playing the game and i dont see how me doing this could be taken
as detrimental to the league.

Its always been the same with the league well over the last 3 or 4 season those
who put the most time in seem to get the best results and thats the way most things
work in the world.

When i first entered the league it only catered for major players and major races things
are very different now and for the better there is something for everyone.

I have noticed big improvement with several trainers this season Joshua and Vinny are 2
they have improved because no doubt they put a heck of a lot of time in.

I remember when John (Ghostzapper) first joined he had a tough first season but has since
become the dominant force due to the amount of work he has put into it.

I agree not everyone can put that sort of time in to it but i dont think that those who have should
be punished for it unless Mark can come up with something that would level the playing field giving
more casual players a chance it will remain the same.

Thats why the NH side of the game is so good, as it is not all down to potential and speed. Trying to compete on the flat is very hard, the only thing that i don't agree with is the use of ttf files and transferring horses to different games, just seems a bit un-natural to me. Also the removal of the detailed stats screen would be a big plus for me and would be more enjoyable when you do find a monster that you didn't think you had.

I completely agree scrapping the TTF file system would level the playing field massively I have always said this

for instance this horse i have shown in opening post can cover mares at different distances and can have his
offspring with them stats at every distance in the game because of the ttf system.
