Post retire to stud -
what age you do this?
or does it matter on the season the horse is having??

maybe its me, maybe its the database i use [DEFAULT] but start of the season never any races for horses rated 80+90+100+ ,
i just had a start to the season where the only race for every horse was a claiming race or a selling race :/ [4y-olds&+],... 2yos dont get a race till like march, april or maybe even later then that:/ this normal if i change database will i see more races for horses what changes :/ retard question we will put as topic because we've really gone of path really age of retiring but i guess all blends in:/

U.K. Flat schedule starts around April ending around now real time, September with the st ledger. Pickings are slim before and after though there are races abroad.

As for when to retire, simple answer is when it suits your purpose. I retire from 1yo to 6+ depending on the horse, if it is no good and you would make more from an auctioned foal or can chance the breed then do so, if it is a monster and you cannot wait then breed. If still winning race on. Breeding if done sensibly is the only way to get better horses even if that is only small incremental improvements.

If your pooling you always have copies.

I now retire them to the breeding barn just before the end of their 5yo season.
I play the Australian game which ends on June 24th - I believe the English game ends in a different month.

You get 1yo horses when playing a combined flat and jump schedule.

I almost always retire my colts to the barn at the end of the very start of their 5 year old season. That way, in my head, it gives them a chance to be Champion 2yo, a Champion in their Classic season, and then a Champion against the next Classic colts.

Fillies I retire at the start of their 4 year old season, unless I have an outstanding mare (i.e. the next Winx) to race.

Does anybody know if it makes a difference if you retire a horse at the end of their 4 year old season or start of their 5 year old season? What I mean is, does a horses' stats stop improving when you retire them to stud or doesn't it make a difference?

From my experience it does not make much difference they breed from what I think are core attributes, genes if you like. There are a few things that pass as at the horse in the barn, constitution for example, but not the ones that matter.

I retire mine to the barn at 4yo usually (US flat schedule, StartIt Mod).

I usually sell 2yo horses with below 80 potential, and only those that max it out will go onto a 3yo season. Those that do survive will be run for as many G1 races as possible, and hopefully the Triple Crown if they have the distance. I might transfer those with high and maxed potential (~90-95) if they win ~5-10 G1s, but most will run at 4yo to accrue more wins and so I can see how their traits develop.

It works for me, usually within 6-7 seasons I have some 95+ potential 3-4yo horses to breed from, and a ton of great 2yos to race and enjoy
