Not sure what more Minding could have done to make the list

G1 winner at 7 8 10 & 12 furlongs won 2 English classics and came back to a mile and beat her
elders in the QEII she was exceptional have to say all your picks for each nation are on the money

Eclipse is one id add what a beast 18 starts 18 wins Frankel of the 1700s

Oh if we're looking at older horses this is a US one.

You'd want a constitution bar over a hundred for the one who I think has the best story of the older US greats: Exterminator. 99 starts, 50 wins, 33 of those stakes races. Raced until 9, as was a gelding. He was the Winx of the early 1900s in the US. Except, his owner never wanted him, even after he won the Kentucky Derby, and he was ugly.

They don't make them like that anymore here, and there aren't enough races to suit his better distances these days either. So if I made a mock up game legend of him, I'd almost want to run him in the current UK schedules. :( Game is light on US Legends as it is.

Giants Causeway is better than two horses on that list.

Out of interest John which 2? Giants Causeway is probably my favorite Aiden horse but the very peak of his form is just below some of the others (on a par with Minding). I remember how he was swept aside by Kings Best, who was sensational that day but it may have been a fluke, in the 2000 guineas. According to both Timeform and the official handicapper Aiden's best ever horse has been Hawk Wing but I am not so sure. He may have been Aiden's most talented but he was a bit soft and I don't think we would got past Giant's Causeway had they met. Purely ratings wise I would probably place High Chaparral at the top of Aiden's horses if I was a handicapper.

All I have to do now is create them all!
I have made a start with a few and tested them to make sure they run as expected; thankfully testing them is a relatively quick job. Just start a new game, load them all in and autorun 5 or 10 years and check their form.

Then it will be the jumpers in a couple of weeks!!! That will be even more subjective and liable to include personal favorites. It will probably also be based around code and distance rather than nationality.

Feel free to add your own lists, it would be interesting to see other peoples views, but maybe stick to top 10's.

Darren

Darren timeform is the biggest pile of poo ever, they just love to hype horses up. They love 1 race wonders. Giants is better than Ridgewood or Minding. No horse or very few are unbeatable but Giants was the Iron horse, I think it was 8 group ones with in like 18 weeks and never out of the first two and I think his last race was possibly his best race in the classic. I was never a giants fan, I always shouted for the other horses against him but man he danced every dance.

On the Irish list, I'd include an honourable mention for Galileo.

For my breeding barn, I'll take Northern Dancer, Mr Prospector and mmmm Mill Reef. For my mare barn I want Bourtai (US), or her daughters Levee(US) or Delta(US). :)

Not in terms of individual progeny G1 winners or total progeny G1 wins

Slight flaw in that as they didn't have group races back in the day. U cant compare now to then in the breeding barn plus I bet they didn't breed 200+ horses a season.
