No betting and normal start tips
Hi,
I have got into horse racing since I started trading horse races online in the real world. Whilst horse racing is out of action in UK and Ireland, I decided to buy SO7. I have had SO4 and SO5 in the past.
I have read some of the recent newbie topics and looked at some of the YouTube guides. Most suggest to start on easy and then bet on legend horses. I would like to start on normal and not take the easy route to riches by betting on Frankel. I want to gradually improve my stable and work for the better horses, but where do I start if going down the road less travelled?
I don't want a step by step, but guidance so I can get into the racing and breeding aspects and deeply learn the mechanics of how to be a great owner. maybe there is a historic post or two I have missed?
Many thanks in advance for any help. Credo

Re: No betting and normal start tips
Autorun some seasons 3-5 so you have some form
Sell what you get, it's normally rubbish.
Go to auctions and buy 3yo's that ran badly over distances shorter than they need at 2. You can normally get them for quite cheap.
Try get a breeding barn asap. If you have money buy any Group winners you can find in auctions. If you lucky you can get a 18yo+ mare for very cheap, I have picked up 1 or 2 for less than 10000. Breed with a horse doing well at stud.
Hopefully you will be able to gradually improve your stable doing this.

Re: No betting and normal start tips
Thanks leonvr
Two points I would never have thought and will give them both a go.
It is strategies like this I am looking for as trying to be as realistic as possible and expect to fail a few times before I get to some success.
Thanks again Credo

Re: No betting and normal start tips
There are other things to look out for.
Horses that ran on wrong ground.
Horses that were baulked for runs
Wrong surface etc
The horse may then be at an articially low price due to bad performances you can then improve
Basically just apply your knowledge of horse racing to the game.
If you manage to get a group horse and it starts to lose form and you don't have a breeding barn yet, sell it. The money can then be put to use reinvesting in stock or better still getting that breeding barn
