| Post subject: | Best way to develop 2 yo horses |
Hi all, I am in my 6th season now and have bred what appear to be some good 2 yo but when I first race most of them in maidens in about May they perform horribly for the first couple starts. If anyone has any tips on how they train/race 2 yo horses and have found success id appreciate the help thank you. |

In SO6 it got to the point that my 2yo's were so good all I had to do was send them out with no jockey instructions. They usually won. I did that with SO7. My 2yo's almost always lost on debut. Then I started giving the jockey specific riding instructions for first time starters - they started winning a lot more. Check out the parents racing records and their running styles. Try to figure out if your 2yo's traits resemble one parent more than the other. Make your riding instructions like that parents running style. |
