 how to make money
Not being a betting man does anyone have any ideas how to make some decent money in NH game please?
I am struggling from day one to be able to afford any decent horses.
Thanks
Bill

Don't know if this will help but I am playing US game and the horses are keeping form a lot better over SO3. So I just bet on my horses to win. I have won 7 races in a row with one horse. I couldn't do that in SO3. I have won a bundle already as the odds aren't going below 2:1 for some reason. But if you don't bet just look for horses with a near 100 rating in the auctions that are 4+ years old and enter them in allowance races for easy wins to build up the ratings and then you can resell them for profit. Every time a horse wins a race it gets a boost in its' ratings.

Or you can use Art Money.

cheaters...I've won 39% of races using the strategy above. 45% should be doable.

For your information JK I haven't used Art Money, I can if I want but I don't. If you read some of my posts you will find that I haven't even won a race yet, and that includes maiden races. I have a bunch of donkeys, I am slowly going through the season to see if there are any errors and posting them when I find them, so, that Mark can make this a bug free game for everybody. I only mentioned about Art Money. Hope you are enjoying the game anyway. Take care.

Just teasing. It is difficult finding a decent horse I'm finding out. I bought the top 2 two year olds at the auction and they won't be winning any graded races. SO4 is disappointing thus far.

Ignoring Art Money for the moment, I always play this game on hard, but with a starting bank of £50,000 I can't for the life of me see how you can make any money from week to week.
Obviously the road to riches comes with the breeding barn, but the 250000 needed for that seems an almost impossible goal.
For those of you that don't cheat, how do you make money early on?

Get a horse that can win allowance races consistently and keep betting it to win. I won 7 races in a row and 12/15 with this strategy. I have about $400K right now with two consistent geldings. Horses win more consistently in SO4. I play on normal so it may be different.

With SO3(hope this works with SO4) I would skip a season so horses have a full season under there belt, at the start of the second season I sell both my horses from my stable, I then go to the auctions daily I look for a 4 or 5 year old that has just won easily on its first start as a gelding, enter it in a low handicap race and have a nice bet on it, I find they improve about 40 pounds on average, the best gelding I bought was rated 35 and after 2 season was rated 101. hope this helps mate

So, gambling is the only way then. No chance of just doing it on prize money alone.

start the game, go racing, take a note of the winners, press 'ctrl-alt-delete', start 'task manager', close SO4, start up SO4 again, go racing and heavily back what race you fancy!
NOTE: Not always the same results, out of 6 races 2/3 stay the same in my experience but im sure if you try it once or twice you should get a nice Straight Forecast up to give you a good start!
Good way to start for league breeding ( which I do )
Also have a game going with no cheating for my own enjoyment! Which with many seasons ends up with the same results as cheating but takes a lot longer, hopefully then producing two games worth of horses to choose from.

You can buy 2 year olds that have run over the wrong distance for between £1000 and £5000. Run them in claimers as 3 year olds and you will build up your bank. Takes about 4 seasons to get enough money for the breeding barn
