PJR, if the horse is a non-stayer wouldn't it be best to use "Challenge later"?

I could be wrong, but I thought "Challenge earlier" was a tactic best used for horses dropping down in distance?

If you have a horse that may struggle to get the trip then use "Challenge later" to try and reserve every drop of energy for the finish.

If you have a horse that is dropping down in trip, and you think it doesn't have the necessary turn-of-foot to keep the faster horses at bay, then use "Challenge earlier" in the hope of stretching the pack and grinding the finishing kick out of the opposition.
