The green bar drops after a race, you have to wait until it goes up past the red bar before running your horse again.

Surely it's the other way around? The red bar seems to be the one that drops. If I am wrong I have been resting horses when not necessary. Can anyone confirm which way around is correct?

The red bar is the target bar, while the green bar is the condition bar. After each race the green bar drops down, and the horse is not fit to race until it reaches, or goes past the red bar again. At least that's how I've been playing the game!

Oops, Lochsong beat me to it!

Thanks a lot guys, I have my whole stable resting as all green bars are above red, don't I feel the prize plonker? Just one other point though, why does the red bar drop too after a race?

if you look on the training page the head lad will tell you when your horse needs rest, is a little short of work or is rareing to go, that could help you as a guide until you learn the ropes yourself a little more.

The red bar, when at it's usual point, should be viewed as the minimum condition needed to race. Once the green bar is equal to, or higher than the red bar, you are good to go for a race.

Head lad comment should also change from "Needs a few more days rest" to "raring to go".

I've only noticed the red bar drop once below 80/85%. It usually remains at that point for me. But, the one time it did drop, the head lad reported, that the horse "needs to be rested for the remainder of the season".

Hope that helps..

This side of the game needs tweeking colm, I play the manual training side of the game and I'm flat out trying to get 4 races out of my horses per season, I don't know how it is if your playing the auto training though.

I have one game on Manual training, and get a few more races from them than you currently are. When you go to Lot 1 training, are you running horses full speed?

I've been doing alot of reading from the internet and books, such as Vincent O'Brien's biography, etc, over the past 10+ years. I found a common theme, that rarely do the best trainers in the world, train horses at full speed. Even coming up to a big race, they keep the horse at 3/4 speed, and 7f max (even for Derby horses), just to keep the muscles loose. This is what I currently do, but can't really prove whether that's what's helping me out.

Someone commented before that I'm reading far too much into a game, good point, perhaps I am. But, without Mark giving away game secrets, I'd be curious to know if he's built something into the game, that too much full speed training can just as easily wear out a horse as too many races?

Try the 3/4 speed (Amber) for a season or two, with one day full (Red - here and there), and see if that helps you. You might help me prove a theory, or you'll be back and say that it didn't work and I'm talking crap!! :D

I normally put horses on "lot-2" after a race for 18 to 20 days, then "lot-1" till the light turns green or raring to go, be it the flats or the jumps, and I'm finding that it's impossible to get 3 if lucky 4 races out of a horse, and it's not one only but all, be it sprinters or stayers all the same colm, not only that but the "agility, break, jump button" does not do a thing for a horse, it's like the button is not working, no matter how you use it it just does not work, and thats on "normal training mode", so I say mark has to look at this side of the game for the sake of the manual training otherwise it's just not worth playing the game, as my season is ending in july lucky if I get to august, and I find that I'm jumping the rest of the season to get to the new season, it's not satisfactory, it needs tweeking, thats what it needs.

Hey colm, what has pissed you of mate, the fact that I don't agree with you, is that it, that line of yours should be mine to use not yours, it's so frustrating when you know something is wrong and the likes of you comes in and plays just about every problem down, and god help us if we don't agree, give me a break mate.

Nothing has pissed me off JC. You've no doubt misread my intention to the replies I've given.

I've not tried to play down the matter in any shape or form. You seemed stuck, and I tried to offer help, no more, no less than that.

I will let you be. Good luck mate!!

it's not help that I need, you seem to forget that I didn't start playing this game yesterday but a long time ago, "let me be"

Of all the things that I can't stand is when adults act like children, aghh
