My first time as Forum member and my first post so I'd like to start by saying a big thanks to Mark and all those connected to Strategic Designs for producing such a superb game. I'm a keen Horse Racing fan and several years ago stumbled across SO3, needless to say I was hooked instantly.

S04 is even better - nearly had the winner of the Grand National yesterday, something I never achieved in SO3, horse was five lengths clear coming to last and stumbled - stayed on one pace for second as the eventual winner stormed past like a 5f sprniter at the elbow - yes, I was screaming at the monitor!

Anyway, I've read the numerous posts and threads about bugs, bugs fixes, testing etc, all I did was wait a few weeks for the patches to be released and hey presto - no problems.....

....well, almost!

I'm on Patch 1.0169 and still keep getting completely random Access Violation crashes. There seems to be no pattern to it, I've read some of the other posts regarding Access Violation Crashes and the one i'm experiencing doesnt seem to tie in with those.

It only happens when I click the 'view race' button and when it's a race with one of my horses in. There is no pattern in terms of certain dates, horses, races or anything.

I am currently getting round it by pressing the 'S' hotkey to save just before I 'go racing'. Then if I experience a crash I haven't lost any previous wins from previous days (not that there is many!). The save game loads up fine on restarting SO4.

It isn't stopping my enjoyment of the game, just more of a minor annoyance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps the latest patch might help save your problem?

Did you start the game before Patch 1.012 I think it was? That could be a reason for the access violations and you may need to start again.

I downloaded game the latest patch at that time (1.0169). Will try the latest patch - like i say its not stopping me, it probably happens about 5 or six times a season, so not all that often.

Wondered whether it might be my graphics card - so down loaded the latest drivers last night, didnt crash last night and didnt crash when I sneaked home form work for my lunch hour to have a couple of races (yes - I'm addicted)

Sounds like its graphics card related then, and if you've installed the latest drivers then you are probably well on your way to having a game which doesn't crash.
