Post D+D Races Poll
Hi folks l believe there is a few people that think these horses and races should now finish. Me myself l have pro's and con's for both opinions but lm very much leaning to not have these races at all anymore. As said to work hard to get a decent horse and then get beat by someone's offcast is not what l want at all. I know last year some people got G1 wins from D+D horses but surely this just takes away from the fun and the game really, as no need to even play the game really if people are going to do this. I myself was going to use a couple of D+D horses for NH as l have not played this part of the game but then thought l would hate a newbie to be beat into 2nd place by a horse l had borrowed from someone and not put the hours and the work that the newbie had put in to get his horse only to be done by me who had not put any time in at all, and would also not like this to happen the other way round.

i think they should be retired as it doesnt seem right winning a race with a horse that isnt really yours because you have got it from someone else. it would be much more of an achievment to win a race with a horse that you had in your game

I think we should have seller/claimer races near the upload windows instead of D&D races but this is just the D&D set-up done a different way.

Sellers/claimers would be interesting though. Especially bidding...

Good poll guys. Because it's close to the league, we'll need to make a decision on it pretty quickly, so let's leave this run until tomorrow evening, to give enough folks a chance to vote and comment, and we'll go from there.

I think it should be dropped aswell, this would encourage people to breed there own horses for the league.

Perhaps we could have a variation on the D&D whereby the member who gets the horses, can use them as marker horse in the construction kit to try and improve there own crop?

Obviously they couldn't be used in the League, but it would give a good idea to those in the D&D what sort of level they need to aim for to be competitive.

I agree with Jay, sellers and claimers would really increase the interest in the League and encourage players to play with the big boys.

And as The Duke stated, players will begin to rely upon the d+d to win, and therefore the quality drops.

Just something to think about :-)

Post Wheel goes full circle
Ha ha ... that was what used to happen prior to the D&D ie horses from the previous season used as "standards" for testing.

There was some concern that it actually put off some of the newbs as league monsters would decimate most newbies' horses in the CK.

My view is that the league has progressed again and that the D&D is passed its use by date. I don't have a problem with the D&D per se but given the tips and suggestions provided throughout this site and Yuku, anyone serious about getting better results in the league can do so without needing someone else's cast offs.

The only thing that puts me off about using horses as markers is, it's walking a thin line.

Upload a reasonably good horse, and you give a new trainer the wrong (lower) impression of the league standard. It then could become discouraging when they face the real league horses after they've got their hopes up.

Upload a high class horse as a marker and you could scare off potentially new trainers.

Personally, I'd prefer if we encouraged people to have a go, like we all currently do. Continue to answer their questions, and offer them all the help and advice they need. The chances are, once you've seen at least one of your horses run reasonably well, and experienced the excitement of the races with the commentaries, that will keep them hooked.

I agree Colm l think to have a D+D horse to trial at home and find out it stuffs your best by 3L could very much be dishearting to many players. The unknown factor to the league is attractive to me as in enter it and the buzz to wait to see how it gets on, rather than download someones, get stuffed and think l may aswell not enter horses in the league

Post Wot Colm said
Colm hit the nail on the head. Those of us who come back religiously do so as much for the community as for the wins. The encouragement given to newbies is brilliant and underpins the culture here.

The pragmatist in me also says that we can easily run a mid season D&D if we believe we've got it wrong but I suspect that the right decision is to retire it.
