Does it actually effect the horses ability to quicken?

I used to get excited when the acceleration bar was full but its doesn't seem to make much difference to a horse.

You would think a horse with a fuller acceleration bar would quicken up nicely at the end of a race and horse with a lower acceleration bar would be more of a one paced horse.

But in my experience it makes little difference, what does anyone else think??

If anything horses with full acceleration are unable to quicker, and it appears to have the reverse effect to how you think it would work.

Strange.

From my experience with SO4 so far the only bar that seems to mean anything at all is the stamina bar and in fairness thats not always the case.

The other two stat bars are a complete waste as they dont give any reflection on anything at all mostly i would just ignore the stat bars and do what a trainer has t do and judge the horse on what you actually see.

I have always thought that the acceleration bars and the other bars, except the condition and stamina bars, are the potential that the horse can achieve, but, after reading this post...not too sure now.

If there is one tip I could give everyone this would be it.

IGNORE STAT BARS.

Stat bars are a guide only, you need to know your own horse.

The other point I would make is, acceleration is only one factor. You have to look at the whole picture, and how the acceleration combined with speed and stamina, affects the horse during any race.

If the horse has high acceleration abilities, but only an average speed, then if he's already running at his top speed, he's not going to be able to quicken any further.

The same can be said for stamina, if he's used up his race stamina, despite having, perhaps a top speed and top acceleration, he's got nothing left in the tank to actually allow him to quicken.

What if the horse is a sprinter Colm, and they have full speed & full acceleration bars and are from a line of proven group winners?

I've had three or four separate horses with these stats from solid league producing lines which have all turned out to have the acceleration of a tug boat.

But, the bars are only a guide Duke. I'm sure you do get horses from these lines that meet expectations, and others don't. You have to go by what you see in the races.

Yeah I know they are only a guide Colm, I'm just saying.

It would be nice to actually get a full acceleration horse that is actually any good at some time, alas it appears it'll never be the case.

To be honest, I have got one, in one of my sprint lines. I've seen about a half dozen, to a dozen more, that I recall, but only one so far meets the expectations that you would have for such an animal. So, don't give up on them just yet. Keep going and you'll eventually get one.
