Post subject:  Starting off....

Ok.. so I'm starting the trainer mode on the game.. I have the 3 horses and the 100k.. And i've patched the game.. However I can't get anything to work. My fees always add up to way more than I win in prize money.. Any horse I buy is generally no good..

I've tried buying unraced 2 year olds..but they are never any good... (I can only afford ones up to 300k ish... and thats when i sell the 3 horses I start with and use the 100k. I've been buying 2 year olds for 300k and they wont even win me a h'cap off a mark in the 50's!

Anyway in the end I always ending up losing all my money and starting again. Anyone else had the same problem? I must have started 30 - 40 new games.. lol.. after just playing one or two season.s

30 r 40 attempts :O jez..
best bet is to gamble and win money and buy breeding barn and breed few horses. try and win something with 1 of your horses and breed it and hopefuli u shud get somehting to win decent races.

oh.. the other thing I was wondering is where you find your head lads comments on your horses.. I've seen it mentioned on this forum but haven't seen it in the game.

Not usually. Except the ones that are 450+ even then they generally aren't as good as the ones you can breed.

You either have to cheat or gamble. I don't think you can play just being a trainer because you can't win enough money.

You can if you get the right horses that win the big prize money races, but you just need to get lucky.

Skip one season at the beginning so as to build up some form, then look for large fields in handicaps, and look out for 2 horses in the same race that are distance and going winners that are at or above 25/1 and place a thousand pound reversed forecast on them. Eventually one will win and you'll get about 2 million quid. Enjoy!!!!!!

I have a 3 year old that I bought at 2 that was 2nd in the derby, won the Irish derby and went on to win the mile and half turf at the breeders cup. Good horses are out there, you just need to hit lucky.

I think the finace in the game is a bit flawed especially for the early game. So most people just cheat (or gamble which is almost as bad).

I think the game needs an overhaul in this department with the introduction of owners.
