Hi, i have been looking around for a thread with hints and tips in for new players but couldnt find 1 so ive started this thread for any of the experienced players to post hints/tips in. I know most of you play in leagues so im not expecting you to post up your secret ways, just some hints/tips to aid new players.

There are tons of hints/tips on the forum. You obviously didn`t look very hard. I wish all league ppl were like you then I would win more races.

There are no `secret ways` just play and export, good luck and hope to see you in the league sometime.

come on leave it out if a new person wants tips then help out instead of having a go for not looking through the forums.

Right firstly I'd sell the original horses you are given. Then look for horses at the end of day auctions that have won their races by big margins or quick times as buying every horse that wins a claimer your going to end up with 99 out of 100 as donkeys. best to start of with buying sprinters as thats the way I managed to get from rags to riches and aim for rich races with 2yo & 3yo such as the l'abbeye, tattersalls million, breeders sprint, golden shaheen etc once you gather 1 million plus you can start buying decent middle distance horses at the beginning of season auctions (most of the real class horses should have a reserve of over £300,000 I dont bother buying anything else if it goes for less). Then you can start breeding from your gamebred group one winners and you never know you might be able to get a few monsters to upload for the league!! Hope to be of help this is how I did it!!

tux119 I do hope you don't feel like that. There are hundreds of threads from all of the games from SO2/3 and SO 4. It does take a bit of hunting but there is a search button at the top of the page. If you have a specific question I'm sure it will be answered.

People are not that dumb you know, they do know that there is a search button on here, but they do try to break through and hope that they can meet someone on here after all it is called a community, but some of you people are very quick to attack newbies, so they don't bother anymore with this forum I have to say it's nice to know that there are people like nick_driver on here, good on you lad.

Excuse me I did not say anybody was stupid. Nor did I attack anybody, dragontrainer may have seemed a bit short but there are literally hundreds of threads about it with every imaginable question having been answered more than once. As the dynamics of our community have changed drastically recently answering the same questions that have been answered before can get tiresome, especially as we have lost some of the most knowledgeable members of the forum recently so for now there is a small number of people answering these questions. I do know plenty of forums where nobody would have bothered to reply. At least dragontrainer then went through and posted some threads he thought might help.

I have no idea what you think you're talking about but I'm trying to explain why some responses have been short or why there have been so few responses.

I think you're more likely to find what you're talking about doesn't belong to this thread.

Somebody opened it so people could post tips for new players, I am trying to explain why this thread maybe hasn't had the response it would have got a few months ago. But to be perfectly honest if you are representative of the new players or new members we are getting on this forum then I can't blame people for not replying.

Of her 516 past posts, I would hazard a guess that at least 500 of them are a shining example of why she was put in that position. (The other 16 contain some outrageous flirting though SC )

I've spent a lot of time with 'newbies', be it on the technical thread, through email or on MSN and a fair percentage go on to contribute very little to the forum in the long run which is no big deal BUT I can understand why some of the more established members loose interest in offering help and advice.

Considering we all have two common interests on here, we don't half make hard work of getting along with each other.

To be honest guys, this thread is exactly why i HAD stopped posting on this forum.
When a newbie comes fourth with a question, its either met with a reply that:

A) Makes them feel like they shouldn't be asking, Dimisses what they've asked as been old hat!!

B) Although maybe not meaning their replies to come accross this way,
some are SO PATRONISING!!

I think the solution is, read your post through before you hit the submit button, put yourself in the shoes of the forum user your replying to..........

Wise words Scotty. I think the speed of the internet has made us all too quick to react, wanting to reply instantly and to get an instant reply. My son expects/demands an instant answer to any query via Google or w.h.y. Even when he asks me a question, I have to be able to give a one or two word answer or he gets fed up!

Yes, everyone, take heed. Read and read again your reply before posting and see if it can be misinterpreted / misunderstood and put yourself in the position of the enquirer.
