Post subject:  A horses' preferred distance.

Ok, I don't gripe about the game, but, this point is starting to seriously do my head in. Why do horses have 'preferred' distances of, for example, 9 0r 11 furlongs and will not win at any other distance? When you run at say 10 furlongs it either needs another furlong or try a furlong shorter, same with runs at 12 furlongs. It is only a minor (ish) point, but, when you have a not too bad horse and it wont win at regular distances there is, quite frankly, no point keeping the horse because top class races at 9 and 11 furlongs are few and far between. There you go, gripe over.

Have to say though, this game is seriously addictive and far and away the best horse racing game I have ever played, and I've played a few going back to an old game (can't remember the name) that came on cassette and you ordered it from an ad in a games magazine. The graphics were just horses heads running in straight lines, but at the time it was cutting edge technology.

Finally, out of curiosity, is it the same team behind Starters Orders as did the Stable Masters games?

I know I used to play a game called "Sport Of Kings" on the commodore 64, now that was a classic game for it's time. I play it now and again using an emulator, great golden years of my youth. :D

A horse needing 9f or 11f and not been able to dominate at 10f is obviously a dud, get rid.
"Cutting Edge" back then was "The Grand National", a top down view, upward scrolling game where you had to hit a key to jump or whip etc.. Even remember Mark Pitman playing it on National day on the BBC. Didn`t have the same addictiveness of this game though yet I would love another go lol, gonna see if I can find a copy to download.
My favourite at the time was a silly stratagy game that used blocks to represent the horses on the spectrum. I even remember mapping out careers for my horses and watching blocks that represented my horses disappear when they fell. All so much good fun!
