Post subject:  Training/Resting Question

Hi all

Just got the game, another awesome effort Mark.

Just a question (and I have searched the forum for answers but can find any)

I am on simple training mode and my 2 year old's condition bar (the red one) dropped after a few races and didn't recover. How do you rest/spell horses on simple training mode? I have looked everywhere to try to rest him but cant find a place. Being on simple mode it wont let me change the lots. Even when the new season started the red condition bar hadn't improved.

Help would be much appreciated, sorry if its a silly question!

Wow, even on the new season it hadn't recovered? That's strange. If you go to the training screen and look at his info on there does it say 'Care! You are close to over racing this horse.'?

Have you given him a week or two of the new season to reach full fitness again, though? If not, he will probably recover nicely and be ready to run soon. Unfortunately he sounds like a couple of my horses- they can run once a year before being 'over raced'. >.> Annoying.

edit: Oh, and, as far as I know, you can't affect their training in any way while on simple training mode.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I was getting that "care over racing" message in the first season but not in the new season, even though the red condition bar is still at the reduced level...

Strange that there is no way to spell your horse even in the simple training mode.

So what is the red one actually telling me, that the horse is tired and needs a spell? And if so, how do u spell them on simple mode? Hard to understand that even after resting for a couple of months, then starting a new season the red bar is still staying at the reduced level.

The first red bar (fitness) is important and should always be full before racing. The green bar (condition) must always be full too. Once they are both full you are ready to race at optimum level. Same for exports as well.

In the past I have had situations in which the first red bar gets lower and dosen't climb back. This happens for the rest of the season and there is nothing you can do about it. I think its a bug. I just start a backed up save from a previous date and all is back to normal.

Cheers.

Well can I offer yet another view. I have some horses that seem to prefer to race, or do better, when their fitness is NOT full, just off full. I do rely on condition being top though because that affects their rate of recovery. If you run them before they are 'ready' condition wise they suffer.

Dont know how much you raced your two year old? Don't race mine more than three or four, but then they are generally useless and improve at three!!!

Could be the horse is injured in some way? But the game doesn't always tell you! Maybe pass it on through the auction?

Good luck.

The green condition bar is the important one. If it is full the horse is 'raring to go', meaning, fully fit and prepared to race.

The only time you should worry about the red condition bar is when it is at zero. That means the horse has had enough racing for the season.

However, if you have full control of training, you can set training intensity to 'blue' for around a month or so. You'll see the red condition bar start to re-fill and it's possible to get a couple more races out of the horse later in the season.
