i never use the gallops for either discipline
doesn't effect how good they become , or boost their fitness on simple training in my opinion.
Hope this helps

I use the flat gallops at the start of the year to see which of my horses are more forward (for early maidens) and those which need a little more time (likely to run green).

as 'The Duke' pointed out
Gallops is good for finding flat horses that are ready to run
and those that need time (run green)
and will bring them on if needed or just go with the ready ones?
depends if they are bred or game horses i suppose really!
if you keep them or not
