Added 29th Feb:

New Injury model. Horse displays symptoms. The player may then decide if a Vet’s Diagnosis is required which may reveal more details. Possible career ending injuries. Virus’s may spread. Quarantine stable add-on available.

Jockey shout-out option (must be enabled). Player may influence how early or late their jockey challenges.

Mark does this mean that during the running of the race, the player can tell the jockey when to challenge? How would this work out in the league?

This is a simple feature that was added on the spur of the moment. During the race (if you are not using jockey control) you have the option of ordering the jockey to go for home or delay his/her challenge. It is done in real time so will not affect the league. It is intended to give the player some input maybe when the pace is unusually slow or fast.

I have also mode it an option that has to be activated as I'm not sure about it yet.

Release is now hoped to be early April. The usual page will be updated as things progress: http://www.startersorders.com/so5/

Mark.

Thanks for the update Mark. It sounds great, really well done with it. I'm considering becoming a hermit for that month, I'm going to try and have a whole month off in April just to play this game; Ha ha  !

Looking forward too!!
How will you play SO5? From the beginning for league horses or slowly?
Think I will play it like a single player game, slowly enjoying everything new!
How much time did pass in the past when a new SO game came out until a league season did start?

I think I asked this question. I'm not sure of the answer so I'd like to know too what the season definitions are for NH. Like you say will it be Sept-Sept or will it be when the form resets at the beginning of the new year.

With the UK flat schedule pretty much ready for SO5, this weekend I am putting the finishing touches to the UK jumps schedule, and adding some final real-life updates for the 2011/12 season (Aon Chase changing to Denman Chase etc). The Grand National will be much tougher to win in SO5 than it was in SO4, which can only be a good thing, not to mention more realistic :)

The jumps-only schedule will start in late September with Market Rasen's Prelude meeting, and will finish in May with the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris at Auteuil (the last major UK race will be the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock).

As for the combined schedule, the dates for that have yet to be finalised.

Will there be any way to add in the galway festival at the end of May as it will be missing from the default schedule that panther is creating.
